I remember Oni. So there! ...Well, I at least remember it existed, I never played it. And I watched the video again. Looks like I'm buying an XBox 360 soon. Damn, this sounds like it's gonna be good. EDIT: missed the word "be" in the last sentence somehow because herpaderpadoo.

Whoa whoa whoa did they say this was for the 360?
Seems like a perfect opportunity for Bungi to get a head start on the new system (isnt it going to be Q4 2013?)

Right now its listed as being for 360 and PS3. People are being far FAR too ambitious with the next gen consoles imo. I personally doubt they will be releasing this year (either way we will likely know for sure come E3). Even if they do, Bungie has been working on this game for about 2 years roughly speaking and I also personally doubt that it'll release this year either.

There's some rumors going around that developers have already gotten dev kits for the new Xbox, so it's not entirely far fetched.

Nobody's mentioned it here yet, so:
This is an MMO styled game (probably in the vein of Planetside 2)
These graphics that we've seen are damn impressive for something with such a large scale.
I really think that Bungie will be able to pull off their goal of establishing a completely interactive universe, they have a larger, more talented staff than they ever have and they've never (since they were very, very small) utilized every member of the company towards a single goal like this. I'm seeing a chance that this could possibly be hailed as "the best game ever" upon its release, given the scope of the project and the size and talent of the crew that has tackled it.

I was actually gathering it was some type of mmo game with them talking about how its going to be a living game and having things they cant control
Honestly if you take planestside, ramp up the graphics and give it some story besides "hey kill these the other faction", I can see it doing well

As an MMO styled game, I was surprised that it's currently only on pre-order for ps3 and 360, and not for PC. Rumors say that a PC version is on the way as well as versions for the next-gen consoles. Here's hoping that they don't port it onto the PC and rather have a good PC version. That said, I may have to buy at least two copies, one for 360, one for pc, perhaps one for the next-gen xbox depending on its timing... jeezus, three copies of the same game?

Hmm isnt it actually harder to develop on the PS3 (or PS4? dun dun duuuuuuuuuun!) than the PC? (or from what I hear on ps3 porting and etc) Be a bit strange to neglect the PC

All I know is that Bungie hired a completely all new staff to work on the PS3 version.

This is purposefully not being developed for PC as apparently "no one plays FPS games on the PC anymore". Evidently somone has never heard fo PLanetside 2 or TF2 or....
It is also possible that the real reason that this isn't getting a PC release is that it is very similar to the next MMO by Blizzard (both of wich are owned by Activision) which is supposed to be strikely similar to this.

Exceptions aside, you'd be surprised how much the PC FPS market has suffered the past few years. While the statement is on its face wrong, they are correct that making FPS games for the PC has become an increasingly dicey proposition. And honestly, should we be surprised that Activision doesn't want to make more FPS games for the PC? CoD might be bringing in the bank but it hasn't really built their brand.

The ps4 architecture is supposed to be alot more 'open' than the ps3 and judging (i didnt do the judging btw ) by durango's architecture, 'xbox-next''s aswell. Sony has learned the hard way from the cell processor and it's strict partitions, sony is not developing a bespoke processor this time round iirc. Ps4 is aiming to be the 'easiest' to develop for. I think 'warframe' is a good indication of what this game will be like in terms of online structure.

I think that its more a case of making CoD clones is an increasingly dicey proposition as the PC user base are typically more experienced/older they see through the hype more clearly than console gamers. In the last couple of years FPS that weren't CoD clones have been few and far between.

Well I'm sure we can both agree that CoD has poisoned the market in that respect. The PC crowd is now more critical and less willing to put up with the crap (both because as a smaller market the people in it are more dedicated, and because they've been getting handed the short stick for years). This effects more than just CoD and its clones imo.

oni was great, but bungie sold it and gutted the team about 3/4 through development in order to make Halo1 great
in hindsight a good decision, but it makes me sad since I really did like oni.
