There are other ways to do it as well. As long as it looks VTOL enough. This is what I use as a vulture.

Wow, that is fething cool. I've always loved the harrier look that the vulture has though, but still, that's one awesome conversion. I'll give some thought to what I can manage...

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

I typically run a punisher with hb sponsons and Pask (a Tallarn, counts-as Pask however). I see no reason to make this tank "flexible" by giving it anything other than s5 shots. If you want lascannons, there are much better platforms imo.

punisher on average will hit 10 times thats:
T wounds

7 1.66
6 3.33
5 5
4 6.66
3- 8.33

ofcourse saves have to be taken into account but it is a pretty good way to get 6+ wounds on a unit of flamers that have an invul anyway

against Mc and hordes it just doesn't put down enough fire power for my liking but small elite units are more my prefered choice. like wise it performs well against light armour

av hull points of which pens

10 3.33 1.66
11 1.66

not the greatest stats in the world but it is reliable shooting . no scatter and can be loaded out with cheap options to give it more flexability or fire power

its situational the same as every vehicle but hopefully my ramblings will of given you a better insite i personally dont tailor lists but if i did i would take them against deamons and dark elder

^ This. I am a huge believer in specialising units. No point in being the jack of all trades when you can be the master of one

Even then, I think you're underselling the Pask Punisher. In a single round of shooting it'll kill a handful of MEQ, half a dozen horde models, strip all the hull points off AV 10 or 11, and actually outright kill some MCs.

Only things the Pask Punisher struggles against is TEQ (which it's still not bad at), and serious vehicles. Oh, and flyers.

Considering the max armour on a flyer is AV12, but more than likely it is going to be 10 or 11, a Pask Punisher can still kill flyers.

Although saying that, I would only shot one at a flyer if there absolutely no other viable targets!

One thing that may be worth trying with punishers is to put a trojan support vehicle behind a squad of two or three. Now you can give one of them preferred enemy, upping the squadron's damage a fair bit. You do have to buy a techpriest to get a trojan though, although he can help out a bit. I am not usually a fan of techpriests but this combo looks really fun. Trojans are pretty cheap too.

IMO way too expensive. The Trojan itself is good, but you're only re-rolling 1s for a total of a 1/6 increase in firepower (on a BS 3 tank). Since 1/6 of a LR Punisher (with LC/MM) is only about 40 points the whole combo has to cost less than that to be practical. And, unfortunately, it doesn't thanks to the point sink of the worthless techpriest. You're better off just spending those points on buying more guns.

However: don't forget the other source of Trojans. If you have a heavy artillery battery and take them as towing vehicles. Sure, they'll have to stay in coherency with the big guns, but the unit has a pretty big footprint so unless you're moving forward really aggressively you should be able to keep at least one Trojan within range. And of course if you bought a three-gun battery there are still two others to boost other nearby units.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

A punisher rigged with a lascannon and multimelta sponsons is the best russ you can take at the moment. There isn't a target in the game that doesn't fear its killing power.

The only really serious problem is that it costs 225 points, which is pretty pricey. That and it's not likely to have all that much to shoot at on turn 1. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

Hheheh WRONG my toughness 9 swat lord with 3 hive tyrant guard says otherwise
