Love 'em! You painted every last bit of detail on these models. I really love these models. GW outdid themselves with the amount of detail on them. Makes you wonder why GW even bothers to sell resin. Specially now that they are trying to sell $25 plastic models that cost more than their "better" resin counter parts.

Agreed! The detail is so good on these that by the time I primed them (in white), it's difficult to tell what some of the smaller details are.

If you cropped off the bottom of the bases, photoshopped the backgrounds, and add a color filter over it, those pictures would look identical to the FW ones. Like a close up picture taken by a servo-skull right before it was blow to bits by the traitors.
Those guys look amazing. I really like them a lot.

Nice models, well done.
My only peeve is with the first one; the face makes him look as if he's staring at his tongue.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I have to agree with this, awesome paint job, but the face on the first one raised a chuckle from me and a few odd looks from my colleagues in the office! Ha!

I'll say that now that I see what you're talking about, the idea of some Chaos nut job slicing up a unit with lightning claws and raspberry'ing them at the same time is quite appealing LOL.

Amazing job.
I started painting the DV box set recently. How do you get into all those small details? Or more accurately what advice do you have on bringing out all those finer details?

I have a tiny Reaper detail brush that my wife bought me years ago. I baby that brush, and it is amazing for detail work. I have some GW brushes, and they just don't hold a candle to it.
I usually block out the colors using flat, base colors. Then, I wash generously with Nuln Oil (I really like the GW washes. Reaper Washes are too dark). Then, I layer the entire miniature with brighter highlight colors, staying away from the edges.
For gold I use Reaper Antique Gold, and New Gold for edging. For Guns, I paint flat grey, wash, then drybrush / highlight with Reaper silver.
On display pieces, I prime white, then wash. Really helps you to see the details, and makes it to where you don't have to be so exact with your painting. I never prime in black, even on dark minis because it's too hard to make out details.
P.S. One other thing - I Always paint from "Inside to outside". So, I paint the reds first, and the golds last. It's always easier to paint something sticking out than something recessed.

Oh man, I've just started on these and you put mine to shame! They're sweet. I've been contemplating whether to paint the cloth black like the 'eavy metal ones or a different colour but after seeing your blue matching with the eyes and breastplate (roughly the same colour I used on mine) I think I might steal that!
