All of them the problem overall is CMON as we have already seen chinks in their KS business plan. Heck the reason the Relic Knights was delayed for so long was because of CMON's pushing other items ahead in the production line.

Overall these are gorgeous minis but this is not what Mike initially promised when he said he was coming out with a game. He said it would be more of a full out table skirmish game then the whole board game style. In the end I am sure I will buy a few just to paint but it's sad as I would love to play these on a table scale not board game.

The rules are incredibly easy to adapt to free form tabletop (and I believe were designed to be easily adapted when they were ready)- if that's what you want, it's right there. Mostly just change squares to inches and add a few things to account for partials.

This. CMoN is the production side of this project and it seems CMoN doesn't really care that it is behind schedule. They have your money already. When I invested in this project, I committed because CMoN had shown it could turn out a good product fast. I assumed that they had contacts and manufacturers in China that would produce this. It looks like they went with a different group of manufacturers for SW. The whole issue with one of the printers running off with their payment did not bode well.

I wonder how things are going with Rivet Wars right now also and if they are having problems too.

I was told by some people in contact with McVey, the game was originally meant to be a skirmish game, but the decision was made to switch to a board game because McVey felt the market was over saturated with skirmish games. A board game had a better chance to stand out and gain larger exposure. Plus when they were to release a skirmish game, there would be an established base of players which could grab the rules and start playing with ready figs.

As a curiosity, if Mike McVey is pretty much behind the commissioning of sculpting and producing and printing and pretty much everything else, what exactly is CMoN's role in all this? Why is their name on the box?

I forgot

I think it was supposed to go:

McVey makes the basic mini prototype, gets it okayed through CMON, makes a master mold, gets it okayed, sends it to the production facility, which makes a couple of samples, they get sent to McVey who approves or disapproves the quality, then they get sent to CMON who does a secondary yay or nay, and CMON sends the money to the production facility to craft the minis, the minis get sent to CMON, who then does final distribution.

That is oversimplified, but that is somewhat how it feels like it was supposed to go.

I do like the models, but I keep forgetting that I am even still owed models, as I only am reminded about it every two months or so. I can totally see using most of the human troopers and Heroes from SedWars, especially including the new power-suited Barker, as a squad of Naval Troopers in games of In the Emperor's name, or some sort of unit made of characters from a division of the Imperial Guard, ala Gaunt's Ghosts. You would have the commander, the command squad Medic, the platoon sniper, troops clad in carapace armor, etc.

Or like people have said, they fit great into the universe of Deadzone.

The game is incredibly easy to turn into an open tabletop game, mechanically. However... there are other games that have rules that are multitudes better that you could just use these figures for. The new edition of the rules are better, at least than the originals, but I don't want to have to pay 30-40 dollars to have them printed out, as I have no portable device to display them on at the game table.

The new core rules are almost identical- new nano and clarifications, basically. It's mostly just the cards that got updated...

Without throwing anyone under the bus directly, I'll simply state that this isn't true. At all. I've spoken directly with people on both sides, and the RK delay was not a result of CMoN pushing other things ahead of production. The sculpts of the last few RK minis may or may not have been delivered on time.

I'm only going off of what was told to me by the RK guys at adept icon.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

So it still has the 1st Edition WFRP problem of a roll good enough to hit being good enough to kill?

Never played the game but that stuck out like a sore thumb when I was paging through my brother's rulebook.

If you mean (just about) every hit does damage and more better hit rolls mean more damage, then yes.

If you mean you have a high chance of autokills or something, no- strain are more durable, and most vanguard death (in my experience) now comes from nano instead of straight damage.

Just like to apologize for any drama I have caused regarding the Kickstarter. The fact is, I still like Sedition Wars and Studio McVey quite a bit.

I've just been a bit upset it didn't turn into the smash hit I was hoping for it to become. I will admit, I love the look of the new models coming.

Thanks

I think you mean "assurances". I also pledged for the figures and not so much the rules.

No - insurance as in if the game turns out to be crap, he's got a bunch of figures that are still useful for something...

New update on the Kickstarter for Wave 2:

We've got very tentative date on wave 2. All the cards are printed and ready. Each Biohazard backer will receive a plain box with the Biohazard rewards within, as well as all the reprinted cards and the new cards.

For the Kickstarter exclusive optional items, these will come in a plain box with the model(s) and appropriate cards.

The optional Terrain set will arrive in retail packaging with components in a vacuum tray.

Right now we expect figure production and final assembly of all components to complete in early July, and assuming everything goes according to plan we will have them in Europe and the USA ready to ship through August - this is an estimate right now since we won't be able to set this in stone until all the transportation is booked. Once we've got firm dates after the first week of July we'll update you all again.

Terrain and a printed, updated, rulebook will be available in the pledge manager to buy before they ship. Special characters won't be available. Terrain is expected to go to general retail.

Also, it seems CMON have an attack of the communications and is answering questions en-masse!

Wow, there were 22 Kickstarter-exclusive sculpts?

What a waste. I'd buy that firefly crew in a flash if it was up for general sale.

It seems like they'd have been better off investing more in the core game itself rather than going off on a typical CMON "go completely overboard with KS exclusives" campaign.

It gets a bit pointless when the point of the kickstarter is primarily to fund things that will never see the light of day outside of the kickstarter, which seems to be the case here.

Where did you get that info on the rulebook? Is that the reprinted rulebook that still has errors or something messed up in it? And is it available to download somewhere?

I'm guessing the bold part is what has gotten them to suddenly be communicative again...

I would bet the rules you can buy are the second edition which they seem to call version 1.5 (implying they will release another). Not sure if I will spring for it or wait for a hopefully newer set which addresses the multiple issues in v1.5 AND updates the scenarios to the new rules as well. Of course they will most likely need to update cards too at that point.

What a mess...

Yeah, Sedition Wars has become pretty much a "tiles for roleplaying and miniatures for proxying" kickstarter at this stage.

The point of the kickstarter was to generate enough funds to allow them to put together a decent retail package for distribution. The offering of exclusive figures to folks backing the project definitely allwed them to increase the capital generated buy the project, in turn allowing them to meet their goal of getting the game to market.

Well I'm excited for all my extras. Maybe it'll inspire me to finish painting the 3 biohazards I have at home

I mean, once I've finished painting 50 marines, 14 bikes, and 17 other assorted 40k figs in 3 weeks I'll need something to paint.

they're being tooled in hard molds so no rubber involved; it would seem to be demoulding agent (which should be removed from production items), or so I'd think.

I suspect these could test shots from when they were refining the mould fit,

the showed pink/red goop being used during that process for some of the other sculpts

They look exactly as I assumed they'd look; they're simplistic designs anyways.

I'm curious why they took so long, though.

Why blue plastic? Will they be released in blue plastic?

They're bigger on the inside, clearly.
