For the drop pod assault rule in the Space Marine codex it says that I must half my total number of drop pods and drop on turn 1.

but what if I want to drop all of them on turn 1?
Is there a rule against this?

Half of 1 rounded up is 1. Yes you get to drop it in round one. It's how I get my Combiguard in position turn 1!

All of them, only if you only have 1 pod.

Normally things that Deep Strike Enter from reserve. (P. 36 for Deep Strike, P. 124 for reserve rules).)

Drop Pod Assault overrides the normal reserve rules by letting you drop half your pods on turn one, instead of having them arrive by rolling for them on turn two and three.

Then you need at least 5 pods to drop 3 on turn 1, which can be done. Plus you do not have to embark on the pod you bought as a DT. So you can buy a pod for your dev squad and one for your TFC then you could deploy the TFC and Dev squad and drop those 2 pods empty while dropping the 3 you want to drop on turn one.
thanks for the help

Glad to help.

Seriously people, you are confusing!

Yes, you can only drop half of your pods on turn 1.
You stated that rule yourself

Actually there isnt a rule against it, there is no rule allowing it

The premise of this game is permission, so you dont look for a rule denying something, you see if you can find a rule allowing it

I think the answer would be then that half (rounding up) come in on turn 1, and the rest enter as normal reserves.

Correct?

I do like the trick with extra pods dropping empty. lol

Drop pods are great and it is covered correctly by everyone:
Half (rounding up) can be deployed turn one and the other half like normal deep strike.

They are great also where they can be instant cover and hem-in the enemy: not many armies want to waste a squad's round of shooting to kill a drop pod.

The dropping empty with the missle option works very well for some horde army battles.

Have fun!
