so, my LGS doesnt have the forgeworld books vailable ATM for me to read through,

so I have a couple questions for Dakka-ites who do have the forgeword IA books:

can all space marine chapters (templars, blood/dark angels, grey knights, ect) take contemptors/mortis dreadnaughts?

also which IA book has the rules for the space marine assault boat flyer?

Aeronautica has the most recent rules for all Forgeworld flyers i believe.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Aeronatica has the updated rules for the flyers. And LGS does not have forge wolrd books. You order them.

The Mortis dreadnought entries are in the apocalypse second edittion.

mortis is in apocalypse now? I was under the impression they were legal for 40k games, 40k approved and all that?

If someone could just tell me flat out if for sure what space marines can take contemptors/mortis dreads Id appreciate it.

I dont want to dumpt 50+$ on the rule book to find out I cant take the units I want,

so could someone with the rule book please tell me what armies can take the contemptors/mortis'?

specifically I want to use them with grey knights

If we're talking about mortis contemptors, the rules for those are also in IA: Aeronautica. I believe SW, DA, SM, BA, and BT can take them.

and you can get a mortis dread for GK, it's called a psyfleman. unless, of course, you're referring to the mortis dread version that grants you Skyfire/Interceptor?

EDIT: nope, just checked, the Rout don't get the mortis contemptor.

ok thanks guys, didnt want to spend 50$+ to find out I dont get to used those units with GK's

Can grey knights use that castus assault ram? and is it an assault vehicle? or in any way better then a storm raven?

the one I am referring to is this http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine_Aircraft/CAESTUS-ASSAULT-RAM.html

Nope GK cant use the caestus or contemptors of any kind for that matter. Caestus is an assault vehicle. Might want to check this in future its FW errata with nearly all their vehicles on 1 summary sheet; tells you what has which rules, no info on who can take them though need to go to the individual books for that http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/v/vehicle6thupdates.pdf

Havent really used either yet, As to which is better both have uses;
Capacity caestus can carry 10 temies but Sr can carry 12 regular guys plus a dread
Weapons SR wins hands down here, really dont rate the Caestus's weapons
Armour/HP: fairly even Caestus has better front/side armour but SR better rear armour
Cost (in game): SR comes in a bit cheaper in the game SR 200 - Caestus 275 both base cos. Srs prob bout 250 and Caestus 300 with options added
Cost (£/$): ones FW the other isnt enough. SR costs half the price of a caestus

Personally come down on the side of the SR myself but its a near thing

it's essentially a flying Land Raider, and a decent anti-tank/elite infantry after it drops it's payload.

The Caestus is available to all SM variants except GK.

in fact, the only FW flier GK can take is the GK Thunderhawk, which is enormously better than the regular SM one.(you can take 4 psycannons and psybolt ammo), however, it is apocalypse, not standard 40k.

EDIT: Sorry, Ninja'd

Apocalypse is just the book title. The IA:Apocalypse books have lots of Apocalypse-only stuff, but they also have units for standard 40k.

If someone could just tell me flat out if for sure what space marines can take contemptors/mortis dreads Id appreciate it.

Contemptor and Contemptor mortis: C:SM, DA, BT.

Army-specific Contemptor versions: SW, BA, CSM.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
