Why did she open it? If it was in her name it was obviously addressed to her and she was used as a proxy therefore FedEx had nothing to do with it.

If it wasn't addressed to her isn't opening other peoples post mail fraud?

The kind of people who are interested in "candles, pixie sticks and peppermints" are not the kind of people who would have an urge to dismember you in the bath with a chainsaw.

I'd have just given them the package, it's only weed. I'm not sure what to make of this story, the drugs were packed with candles and peppermint and sent via FedEx. They don't sound like very serious criminals to me and the bit about them turning up like men in black with 'two men sitting in the car, waiting' sounds like a real attempt to exaggerate how sinister the situation was.

A box of coke arriving at the house and people turning up looking for it; then I'd be worried they were fething serious criminals. A box of weed, pixie sticks and candles, seems pretty casual. Why didn't she give it to them, why did she open it and go through the contents of someone else's mail? Is that what she does with all wrongly delivered mail? While FedEx shouldn't have given out her details, I just don't understand why she acted the way she did.

If a package arrived at my house I might not look at the name on the front before opening it.

I always check. I get other peoples post all the time, I even got a parcel yesterday. In the UK at least it is illegal to open someone elses post (but obviously hard to prove) but more to the point is extremely irritating when it happens to you.

Of course - I am just saying that I would not automatically look at the name on the package before looking at it, which might be what the woman did.

I might not check an envelope but I would a package because I don't get very many and always know when I'm expecting something large in the post. An unexpected one would make me pause just long enough to check the name.

Just a quick study of serial killers show that a lot of them seem to be split personalities.
The same can almost be said for a lot of drug dealers. Another thought is perhaps the peppermint and candles were there in an attempt to cover the smell of the marijuana.

I see that you are an adherent of that ancient tradition which uses outliers to whip up a bit of hysteria. As we know all poets are evil.......

I don't think he's saying that all poets are evil.
I think he's saying that being a serial murderer (Or a murderer in general?) doesn't mean they have the same hobbies. In fact they have many different hobbies.

Just showing the foolishnes of your remark that anyone who murders people in horrible ways is never interested in anything that could be considered cultural or non threatening.

The other items in the box were probably there to mask the smell of the marijuana from random inspections.
And where was the box sent from? Customs can't do a whole lot if the marijuana was grown and shipped from somewhere INSIDE the US.

Not customs, maybe, but the guys sending it might be subject to prosecution for shipping what is an illegal substance under Federal law.

Foolishness? I don't take being called a fool kindly.

What is certainly is foolish is automatically assuming that someone is evil simply because they have a large supply of pot.

Foolishness? Not at all.

What is foolish though is automatically assuming that someone is evil simply because they have a large supply of pot.

Never said that I did. Just saying that I'm not likely to trust someone that deals with large supplies when the safety of my kids is included into the mix. Odds are good that such people aren't going to be adherants to caring about the well being of others.

Not really calling you a fool, since youseem fairly intellegent. Perhaps a better term would have been to say that you seem naive about certain kinds of people.
