No, I'm pretty sure that the mall GW store is super tiny on the weekend as well.

On the weekends it always seemed to get tinier. I'm sure if you don't mind feeding on demo marines you could sleep under the table there.

I'm amazed that GW is still open and Alamo got shut down, but that's GW's problem, I guess.

Anyway, the route 8 seems to be the bus you're looking for. East Dublin/Pleasanton to downtown Pleasanton. Scroll down for weekend service times.

GW didn't want to pay the new higher rent that Alamo would have had to pay. Also there was a problem of the inmates running the place. Also, Seth is able to expand his hobby skills elsewhere now as he got hired at Castle Games IIRC.

Game Kastle - Fremont, actually. The community didn't lose anything by Alamo closing, I agree. We just moved farther south.

We have a 3-color painting requirement. Registration is open now and will close once we hit our player cap at 128 -- it's hard to say when that will be, but sooner is better than later.

On a related note, I'll be posting additional event information tonight -- details on painting, prizing, etc. Who else is as excited as I am?

Darn, there is no bus that runs on the weekend.
Anyone know if there are Cab services at the Bart station.

Go to the bottom of this page: http://www.lavta.org/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=1135

The bus leaves BART every hour and gets to the Fairgrounds in about 15 minutes on Saturdays. There are usually cabs at the BART station as well, or you can call 925-777-7777, which is very easy for drunk people to remember, which I'm sure is why the cab company uses it.

Question: How long until you guys establish a FAQ, or are you going to use one created by other tournament organizers? If so, which one?

Whoops, just noticed this part in your rules regarding conversions:

...and they must be made from a minimum of 50% Games Workshop parts

I guess I won't be attending. There is no reason for this sort of rule. It entirely removes the possibility of scratch-building, to say nothing of using superior models that might have been released by other companies.

We're working on an update to the site to be published this coming week including our initial FAQ and question submission form and additional event details.

While that's not entirely accurate -- there's a strong argument to be made for requiring models from the GW range for the sake of quick recognition on the tabletop, and GW is one of our primary sponsors -- we will be removing that restriction in this week's update. It's no longer a requirement for us to qualify for support.

What about Forgeworld? If we have a scan of said Datasheet, is it legal?

I'll make sure that information is included in this week's update. I can't be 100% certain just yet, but I believe our wording is something to the effect of: "Players must be prepared to present their opponents with copies of the most recent rules for their army."

I take issue with this.

1) FW rules are not readily available, so how do I know your using the most current version of the unit's rules unless I can see the actual book?

2) Lots of people find the rules online, in lieu of actually buying the book. This is stealing, and I have no desire to play with thieves.

Rob, I'm sure my opinion is just one guys voice, but I'd strongly vote for that if you want to use FW units, you need to have the OFFICIAL rules that go along with it. Just like you need your armies codex, and you need the main rulebook, you need the actual FW book as well.

I feel exactly the same way. So, two guys' voices, at least.

Here's a blog post that explains a little bit about our terrain goals for this year (and why we're aiming for 500 square feet of it!).

We've begun tonight's update of the official website. More info is on the way, but for now:

50% GW parts rule has been eliminated.
Order of operations has been posted - place objectives, then roll for sides.
Championship round scenario has been posted.
The first few FAQ submissions have been addressed and posted.

Interesting stance on the drop pod debate.
