Mark my words, soulgrinders will be the heavy support of choice in most balanced, tournament daemon lists. They are going to be the "heldrakes" of the daemon codex.

Out of curiousity, why'd you start your deamons on the board? Aren't they always supposed to enter battle via deep strike?

That's the old codex. The new one, deepstriking is optional.

No.
So each psyker's shooting attack works from the models LOS. The horrors are nice because as a brotherhood of sorcerers you can 'shoot' all your shots from any one horror. This means if your footprint for the unit is 16" across, you can shoot from the far left horror or the far right horror. This is great for angling those side/rear shots.
However, your herald's shots come form where the herald is, as its a different 'gun' he is shooting. This means your herald must 'line up' his shots. To do this you want to move him 12" so he can get to the side/rear armor shots.
Remember, you also cannot kill past your range, so you need to make sure you have your herald and horror about 18" from the squad if your going to go into a squad. If your going after a vehicle, you can sit at 24" away.
Ok, I understand about shooting Pink Horrors etc etc but the Herald can only move the same speed as the Pink Horrors which is 6". So the Herald can only move 12" if splits off the unit.

Unless he's on a disc.

I still get 5th and 6th edition confused as well.
In 6th edition, each model moves separately. That's why Vect can join a beast pack and not shift the entire beast pack down.
That's why sticking him on a disk means he can move 12" so long as hes still within unit coherency.

Nice report, LM! I was particularly impressed with the FW/Grimoire combo. For some reason when I read its entry in the book I had the idea that it was a one-use item, since it’s such a strong effect. That it can be used turn after turn may make it a must-take. I concur with the above that the unit targeted is always the unit that gets the bonus or penalty to its saves, though. The note about the wielder is telling us that he isn’t affected if he targets his own unit.
Nitpicking:
As people said, Beams (or anything else which doesn’t roll to hit), as noted in the Hard to Hit FAQ in the BRB FAQ, can’t hit Zooming Flyers. It doesn’t matter if the unit firing the Beam has Skyfire, either, as the Doom Scythe’s Death Ray is called out as an example.
Beams & Deny the Witch are covered in the main rulebook FAQ as well; just the first unit crossed gets to Deny.

Thanks Mannahnin! I try to help the community by showing how things can play out.
I am impressed with the durability of the FW/Grimoire combo. It lets you do some fun stuff with your MC.
Fateweaver also helped me greatly by allowing me to manipulate the warp storm chart. I changed a 'bad warp storm game' to all good effects. Since the Grimoire happens at any time during the movement phase (so you could swoop FW back on from rolling reserves and still Grimoire him), and the warp storm table is at the shooting phase you can use fateweavers reroll for the warp storm table if you did not need it for the Grimoire.
Twice in that game I rolled a 7. I was able to pick up the smaller dice and reroll it, giving me a good effect.
Edit : One perk of posting battle reports up here is that people can point out the things you did wrong. This helps you learn the rules and not make the mistakes again. I never used beams before so did not know. Now I know for when the next person beams me

Yup. I've had rules errors pointed out to me multiple times too; it's often helpful to get double-checked like this.
I like the synergy of FW with the Grimoire for the combination of making the Grimoire reliable and then being able to manipulate the Warp Storm chart or some other important roll. It's a very nice combo.
