Got my AT8 yesterday. It's okay, have to get the best gun on it cause the stock and second guns are terrible at Tier6.

I'm not a fan of the Brit TD line, I've only got an Alecto at the moment though. The AT2's gun upgrades don't look very inspiring.

Stock guns are always terrible.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

The Alecto shows nothing of what all the TierV plus do. Also, the AT2's gun is amazing, take another look at that fire rate. Coupled with your insane frontal armor, I've had battles with 4 people shooting at my front, at the same time, not one damaged me and I killed all 4.

I run a KV-1 with a 57mm (which is a very similar gun to a 6 pounder, but slightly better) and while it is very good against on tier and below it is useless against tier 6s or tier 5 heavies as it just can't penetrate. I haven't encountered that many AT-2s but, so far at least, they haven't caused me any problems.
I think it would be better as a heavy tank as thats basically what it is.

Is the 25 pounder as bad as the 3.7"?

I mainly use the AT line as line breakers, i've had games with over 10k potential damage received, and lived. Against same tier and lower you can pretty much drive into any kind of fire.

The Alecto is growing on me, its very similar to the Hellcat but with a fixed gun.

Given that you detected the entire enemy team I can only guess that there were a bunch of lemmings and you drove right at them

The alecto does have a low profile but it also has an open cabin and exposed ammo racks, it doesn't last long if someone spots it.

Oh wow, that is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

Patrol duty and scout with a really slow TD...just wow. Its like getting steel wall in a T-50-2.

Nice game!

Game has no true factions, just origins of tanks. And the AT8 is a real tank, but may never have gone into production, game uses prototype tanks too (MAUS is a Tier 10 German Heavy. )

As for countries.

USA
UK
Soviet
China
France
Germany

Some are more fleshed out then others but constant updates see to a steady stream of new tanks.

And Alf, just play it on low settings, it has no impact on the gameplay itself. Hell, I play it on low settings just so I'm sure it stays smooth.

Get some equipment on that thing!

Its a premium, give it some extra love and it'll love you back tenfold. Probably use a rammer and vents at least, maybe a spall liner for arty splashing you, or camo net, possibly binos.

Either way, nice battles! Tank is too slow for my liking, I prefer to go beast mode with the SU-122-44. Nothing like nearly 3000DPM on a tier 7 tank, with 217mm of pen when I need it.

Also, I've been slowly working my way out of retirement, and decided to heavily mod my game for the first time. I used to just run a basic reticle mod which displayed my reload time, and eventually upgraded to a far-zoom mod (HUGELY useful, words fail me how useful this mod is). I recently downloaded a giant mod-pack of doom, which has the reticle I like, far-zoom, XVM, garage additions (clock, calculator, enhanced stats), and an enhanced minimap (mindblowingly useful).

Most people hate XVM in principle, and now I understand why. I can see everyone's win rate and efficiency, and judge them (passively! I only berate those who start it), which is actually more useful then it seems. It means I can now prioritize my enemy targets based on skill, and know who on my team I can rely not to be busy eating paste. On the flip side, it can really depressing when your top tier 10 tank is a 43%er and the enemy has a platoon of 60+% ers on top.

But, for anyone wondering, if there were three simple mods I would recommend, it would be a reticle mod with your reload time displayed in second; a far-zoom mod; and the enhanced minimap mod. The minimap mod in particular labels all the normal icons with the actual tank, so now you know what tanks are across the map, allowing you to judge when to push and what you'll run into. It also shows your view range and draw distance, as well as two laser line drawn on the map showing you where your hull is pointing and where your turret is pointing.

All in all, very useful stuff if you're looking to enhance your experience and maybe climb the win rate ladder that little more. Trust me when I say that's it worth it.

Could you link me those mods? All I use right now Is J1mbo's for the reticle.

As for putting extra's on it. I will eventually, currently rushing through the British TD line though, should be able to buy my AT 7 today or tomorrow. I want that Tortoise :3.

If your not short of credits a toolbox and a camo net can both be freely swapped between vehicles and both are very useful.

If you have an aggressive play style a rammer or vents, toolbox and enhanced suspension (if you can get it) would be my choices. Getting tracked is always a big weakness for hull mounted TDs (especially if you are getting in knife fights) and those modules will minimise the risk.

I have found that tier 8 TDs are extremely hard to level. As you go up the teirs the poor performance of stock guns really starts to show when you need to somehow gain 30k exp to upgrade your gun and it hardly ever even gets a penetrating hit. Isee the British tree gets around this by allowing you to level up guns at lower tiers. All I can say is stay well away from the US TD tech tree.

Haha ok, I've been having rather good results with the Brit TD's, even with some of the stock guns. I just use the general rule of always aim for hatches/features.

Here's the link to the forum post with the mod pack. Its the exact same pack I used, and it comes with a very simple and easy to use read-me file to explain how to install. Seriously, read the read-me! Fairly easy to install.

Some of those mods are borderline cheats; hit zone markers, aim markers for arty, enhanced zoom mode? Wargaming.net really needs to do some pruning.

The mod pack I linked to doesn't contain hit zones or aim markers for arty.

The additional mod pack recommended by the mod compiler does though and an enhanced zoom mode is bad enough. I'm all for mods that allow you to customise the UI, add new skins and other peripheral features but when their express purpose is to give the user an unfair advantage then it may as well be a hack.

Well I've got an AT-2 now and it is ridiculously hard to kill with direct fire. Arty murders it though.

My second game....

Notice the 20 hits I got on the M6 before eventually killing him (all the while under his fire as well as a Crusader and a (flanking) T-34). I can almost feel the nerf bat decending.

Test server for 8.5 tomorrow!

I have never been so excited for a tank as I am for the Leopard. The leaked stats for the three tanks (Indien Panzer for tier 8, Leopard Proto A for tier 9, and Leopard for tier 10) look pretty solid, and we'll see what the soft stats do for these tanks. The line will start from both the light tank line (the VK2801) and from the VK3002DB. Do note that the VK3601H will no longer be able to research the VK3002DB, and the Panther will be able to research the King Tiger.

On another note, just started the German TD line at the Hetzer, and holy hell I'm having a blast! Granted, I'm using the 105mm with HEAT, so its a little like clubbing seals, but its still a lot of fun.

Got my AT15, it sadly doesn't seem to perform that well, the guns all seem extremely underpowered.

It has a bit more pen then the At7 gun but hardly any increase in damage, and you sacrifice fire rate by 1.5 sec per reload.

Wondering if I should get the 20pdr AT gun B type instead of the 32 pdr. But it costs so much exp. :(

never cared for the Hetzer, the JagdpzIV is a love hate tank. i love that i can get 4 or 5 kills or do a heap of damage per game but i hate the 60k exp grind to the jagdpanther. i only slightly missed it after i sold it for my jagdpanther.

i already miss my T-34-85 that i sold for my T-43. The speed of that tank with the 85mm mounted is pure troll.
i just circle heavies to their death or do a scouting drive-by.

And currently sitting in the que (spot #65,873) for logging onto the 8.5 beta, I just want to use the Leopard I since it was used by the Canadian forces for a fair amount of time

Welcome to the british TD line. It's essentialy how every AT works. Bounce everything, get flanked or hit by arty and die. So far the AT7 performed the best for me.
