I don't know if this has been written about yet, but since Ork Big Gunz were released in Finecast, they've been priced at £18.50, right?

Forge Worlds' Big gun models are £17, and come with an extra crewman ( plus, IMO, the models, both gun and crew, are much better than the GW versions)

So I can effectively get a better looking Forge World model for less than a GW stock model...which is by no mistake awesome, but just...weird.

Does anyone else find this a bit ludicrous?

I hadn't thought of that, sounds like a good idea

I do love the FW models though, despite their lack of wheels, and the crew models are just superb...so GW's higher price seems like a bit of an oversight, that's all. Though I'm aware they're pretty good at overlooking basic business ideas

Agreed, though GW have been working this tactic for a veeeery long time

There's a few things like that, I'm not sure if it's still the case but you used to be able to get the much nicer looking Ripper Swarms from FW much cheaper than their GW counterparts.

Although when it's Orks you should just take things like that as a challenge to make your own

If you want to use big guns, get the kannon and shield off a battlewagon, glue it to a 40mm base and use 2 grots. Et Voila

if you buy a battlwagon and upgrade kit you can get 2 kannons and a zzap gun

FW-GW price comparisons always seem to have a few oddities. Not sure if it's still the case, but for a while after the RoW sales lockdown Australians were buying their Rhinos and the like from FW, as the full GW kits and some resin upgrades ended up being cheaper than buying from GW, directly.

Unfortunately, location prevents something like this from being a good deal for many, myself included, unless tacked on to a larger order. "Cheap" FW products (decals, brass etch, etc.) can double or triple in cost, once overseas shipping is factored in.

ill never buy kannon models. Its far too easy to scratchbuild and actually costs quite a bit to buy normally.

When you run them you usually run 6-9 of them. At $22 or whatever it is each, thats like ~130-180 dollars for a gun on wheels! Eff that!

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

14000pts Big 'n Bad Orkz
