Just wondering if there had been any word on a Death Korps update for 6th, as I might start collecting them soon.

The last update (available as a pdf from Forgeworld's website), brought them up to date with 5th ed Guard. I've heard them mentioned in the context of the next IA too, but haven't heard anything concrete.

They've been confirmed for IA12.
Now if that actually means that you'll need the book for the updated rules is anyone guess.
A big part of me feels like its pretty obvious that you'll have to buy the book for them.
Small part wishes its going to be a free pdf.
The fact that the PDF is only avaible through direct linking means its pretty obvious that the Korp's getting an update, been waiting for it since the begining of 6th ed.

A 6th edition update has been "coming soon" since about a week after 6th edition was released. So who knows when they'll actually get around to finishing it.
And they've said there will be a free pdf update, so either IA12 has a different kind of DKoK list (not the siege army from IA5) or just marine and/or necron lists.

Considering you can't access the Siege Regiment list can't be found by going on the FW site anymore, I'd say its getting an update.
To update what? No idea, perhaps that rule that allows them regroup at under 50% when an officer is nearby, or Grenadiers.

Warlord traits, 6th edition USRs, etc. The reason it's been delayed so long is that everyone is busy with the heresy books and nobody has time to write a warlord trait table.

If it's anything like the Armoured Battlegroup table, it shows. That table is largely worthless (if my expensive command tank somehow kills something with a Ram I get an extra VP...yay) and the AB *MUST* use it for all warlord rolls unless you take the Armored Fist command as your HQ...but nobody would

TBH it's fine. It's not like the main rulebook tables have relevant options for IG anyway, so you're doing better by rolling on the ABG table. You've got three good results (night fight, scoring warlord, and outflanking unit), and even the ramming one isn't as bad as the worst results on the default tables (ram an AV 10 vehicle, get a VP). Would I prefer a table full of useful results, or the option to pick your warlord trait? Of course, but GW seems to have decided that randomness is "fun" and you should have to roll the dice to see if your warlord is awesome or useless.

Random warlord traits is bothersome, but the ABG isn't half bad. There's a greater ratio of uselessness in the BRB warlord table. I mean, compare getting stealth and move through cover in ruins for your entire army, to getting counter attack for your warlord and unit while in your own deployment zone. I'll take the ram for VP, and go hit some trucks with a Leman Russ over that, any day.
To be honest, I don't know what's delaying Death Korps though; even their 5th ed. rules are largely compatible, no less so than standard Guard. Some equipment needs to be updated, like the various artillery being brought in line with what's listed in IA1 2nd Ed, a unique warlord table for them, and perhaps a few points adjustments on their units. Maybe an afternoon or two by the original armylist developers, a couple matches to see how it works, and done, huzzah. But no, the Horus Heresy won't delay anything.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I love my DKOK. Those medusa gun heavy artillery are incredible. S10 AP2 12-120" barrage, yes please. Also can be given order by CCS to make them TL or re-roll cover saves just for stupidity.
The infantry are ok, but not great. Stubborn is really funny when people think they can break guard fast and end up tarpitting themselves. Watchmaster at BS4 is nice.
the cheaper HWT who can get voxes with combined squad are great. you can fit a silly number of lascannons in an effective 1000 point army.
Drill got nerfed to the point of useless. Oh well, it was only the iconic unit of the army. Hopefully that gets changed back
Thudd guns are silly now that they removed slow firing. S5 AP5 barrage blast heavy 4 for 50 points is funny. Also the -1 on ld for the pinning test makes them effective at pinning even marines. Need to get more of those but they are so expensive...
Dont bother with grenadier or engineer squads. Overcosted, lack the things that make their guard equivalent useful.

You can't give orders to artillery since its got no leadership and the medussa doesn't have the 12-120'' barrage anymore.

Of course artillery has leadership, the crew and any attached independent characters still have normal LD stats even if the guns don't.

most of the regular warlord traits are either worthless or will have no effect on your army anyway. I rarely benifit from my Warlord trait as a grey knight player. So having a useless warlord table isn't a huge deal.

Oh my God... I somehow didn't notice in their army list that Heavy Weapons Squads have the Combined Squad rule. That... wow. That's awesome.

The gunners and guns are a single unit.

Yeah, orders affect the entire unit so the guns would in fact benefit from Bring it Down or any other orders you could issue.
