And I do, others just do too but it is Update Time and finally we get to the scorpion!
I cant copy the picture right now

Zahra and Sereqet are now available in the Field of the Titans!

You’ve beaten our artists once again. Maybe we should get them some armor! You’ve definitely earned a stretch today, though, so here’s confirmation of it and a little something to keep you busy:

Giant scorpions have long been revered by the desert tribes for their hardiness, and prized by the rich for their rarity and supposed medicinal value. Riding them in the open desert has become a rite of passage for the sandborn, and driving one to a city where a buyer awaits can mean a windfall for the tribe. While they can be trained, they can never be tamed -- the difference is seldom apparent to fools, and experience comes too late to guide them in the afterlife. Thankfully for Zahra, she is no fool, though some would call her mad. The breathtaking awe inspired by the great arthropods and the luxuries traded for them struck her as an opportunity, even as a child. She chose to break from her tribe in the depth of the desert, and turn her rite of passage into a gamble for independence. She sought the most vicious scorpion of the dunes, and guided it into the arena herself.

Many of you have also been asking what else we have in store for the next couple of days -- here’s a quick roadmap. Stretch goals that currently remain are:

Dismounted Zahra.
A mounted entry in the Field of Titans for the Blood Brothers, and dismounted version in the Field of Mars.
Another Field of Jupiter entry for the Morituri.
Doric Column terrain as optional extras.

Fairly incomplete atm but well.. it's a giant scorpion, it's gonna be cool.

It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I've jumped in at the Ludus Magnus level, and I'm struggling with the temptation to up to Maximus or even Ultimus (and of those two it would probably be all the way to Ultimus to be honest as it seems to give better value than Maximus).

I could be wrong on this, but I think it seems like the creators have basically abandoned the idea of stretch goals. They have listed upcoming stuff without any stretch goal values attached, and I have a feeling that this stuff will be "unlocked" regardless of the value reached (because otherwise the 'one-of-everything' Crassus level will be pretty useless). This is OK, I don't "need" stretch goals (especially at my pledge level where there are more than enough choices already), but it does take away a little bit of the excitement of the last few days here. Thoughts?

Thanks Alpharius.
I really like that whole style of Zahra and Seqeret. I think they do a good job in terms of fantasy and realism, it isn't really too much in my eyes. Kickstarter is near the finish now, I hope we see a few other things until it's over.

How do these figures stack up with other gladiator models in comparison?

I can see adding in a few of your own in this game from say- Sparticus, Wargames Foundry, Reaper.....

Another question- Are those the same scale as the Kingdom Death: Monster figures?

Sick minds want to know....

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

No problem, I do what I can. Btw. did someone said columns? Columns anyone? Ah yeah, there in the sixth row *throw*

We're happy to finally offer terrain as part of this campaign. These doric columns will be solid casts, measuring 125mm tall. They will be cast in the same high-quality resin as our miniatures.

Enjoy

Columns? Really? Think they have officially run out of ideas and are struggling to fit in a few more stretch goals.

Sorry, when you can get a whole set of cake decoration columns for far less, it doesn't look good.

I would recommend hitting up an aquarium store for columns. You can get ones about that size for ~$2 a piece. If you're in the US, go to PetCo. I know they have them there.

I agree with the cake decorations idea - that's definitely the route I'll go. But if you actually check out their KS page, you can see they have already mapped out what the next series of stretch goals will be, so I don't think "running out of ideas" is a problem.

The issue is that RRG want everything to be made from high-quality resin. They have already said that they wanted to offer columns and terrain pieces but were having a hard time finding a way to make them affordable in resin (if you think about it, those columns will use up quite a lot of the stuff to make, even though they will be a pretty simple mold to make).

Missed that in the last update. Thanks for pointing it out. Still this feels like a waste of resources. Know they want to add terrain and such, but gamers can be resourceful and find cheap alternatives. Would like to have seen barriers or pits instead. Things that don't easily have a cheap alternative.

Agree the bit about Aquarium Terrain/cake decor. IMO theres not much you can do to columns to make them look like they're worth $10-7.5 each unless they're in fact made out of marble or something.

An animal cage for Leo would be cooler

That's what I did earlier this week!

I knew about them because I recently replaced the terrain in my aquarium with this theme.

I think they'll scale perfectly with this game - so much so that I bought ten of them!

Those are sweet, Alpharius! More details than the standard cake decorations. And $1.69/ea. Great find.

Are they solid or hollow?

Nice, Alph!

They are pretty darn solid. I have this one...

I'm thinking we've already unlocked some stretch goals, we just don't know it yet?

$685 for completionists... heh .

Given that I totally am one, it's a good thing I resisted this!

Hoping it finishes well, though . Almost $10K each of the last 2 days, I'm going to guess it finishes at $175K.

This looks like a great looking game.

Going to have to watch that Sparticus stuff over again.

Great looking find on that Petco stuff. I need a few of those for the Deepwars stuff.

I'm not even sure how good of a deal that is. I think it needs quite a few more of those stretch goals to make it better value than doing for example Ludus Ultimus + Ludus Magnus + add-ons.

Right now all miniatures, counting the free Lupa and free Leo for the Ultimus pledge. would run you at just about under $600 total. Not seeing any kind of deal here, unless we get quite a few more characters, preferably titans.

Does that 165 plus a couple of buys for some extra talent seem like a good deal?

It's okay. Assuming you only take characters from the field of Mars, you're still ahead by 5 bucks compared to buying them individually, dice, the mini rulebook and Lupa. With two Jupiter characters you're ahead by $13 I think.

That's obviously calculated based on kickstarter discounted prices.

I went for Ultimus due to the free Leo and one titan being part of the pledge, then added for all the stuff I wanted extra. That's about $50 ahead of the curve plus a bunch of dice (I LOVE dice) and counters.

Doesn't it also include the playmat, 4 columns and a bunch of extra dice?

Granted - I'm not seeing the point yet either, but it isn't a 'horrible' value, and it could get to be a good one, soon, if more stretch goals are released and met!

If I'm not missing anything (it's quite possible I am), Ludus Ultimus + Ludus Magnus will cost you $350 and get you 16 FoM, 3 FoJ, 2 Lupas, 1 Leo, 1 other Titan, 25 favor dice and a collector set of faction dice (5 of each). Add to that the remaining 2 FoM (this includes Zahra at $150K), 2 FoJ and 4 Titans, that's another $201 so you're up to $551. If you really want the mat, the columns and the extra faction dice, that's another $80, so $631. So right now Crassus ($685) is actually a pretty lousy deal; you're missing out on $54, 5 favor dice and an extra Lupa.

Now they said that upcoming is another mounted Titan, the dismounted FoM model, and a FoJ; this will most likely be another $73, so if we get those in Crassus will be a decent deal if you really, really want everything. And if there's more than that added, then sure, it might start to look pretty good.

On another note, did you guys see the Lupa/Otho WIP's? These minis are going to be ridiculously gorgeous.

Alright, I'm getting in on this, but I can't afford the Maximus Level, so Magnus it is. Does it sound possible to play this game with 3 units on each side? I was thinking 3 Ludus Magnus and 3 Legio XIII

Yep, they said that 3 per is doable.

Worth noting that jupiter are worth more in game than mars, so it might not be an even match...

I don't care very much for the game, but the miniatures are beautiful. I'm in for Ludus Maximus; seems to be the most cost-efficient for me.
When this thing ships, and anyone wants my collateral (the art, the dice, etc.), you're welcome to those.

Can't wait to see Hroka!
