Chaos Black Altar

The Black Altars have rarely seen the battlefield in recent years. Once a common sight amongst Traitor Legions, in particular the Word Bearers, such relics of bygone days have either been lost to the ravages of time, or sealed within the deepest vaults of monasteries dedicated to the Ruinous Powers. Such items however are still encountered occasionally, mounted atop a converted Land Raider chassis, accompanied by a high-ranking Dark Apostle, whos purpose is to instill fear amongst his enemies and to bolster the morale of his subordinates.

Black Altar: 350 Points
Tank, Open Topped
BS4
Armour: F14 S14 R14
HP4

Transport Capacity: 1 Dark Apostle included in the base points value + 20 Cultists (not included). The Dark Apostle is armed with the standard loadout and may not be upgraded further. Note that due to the nature of the artefact, only Cultists and the Dark Apostle can embark upon the vehicle.

Weapons
2 Sponson Twin-Linked Lascannons
Dark Altar of Chaos

Special Rules
Assault Vehicle
Daemonic Possession

Dark Altar of Chaos: The altar allows the Dark Apostle to use one of the following spells each turn. Such spells are counted as Psychic Attacks, but do not require a Psychic Test, although they may be blocked by means such as Deny the Witch as usual.

- Blessings of the Unholy: This is a blessing with a range of 12". Pick a single friendly model within range. The selected model must take a Toughness test, taking a S4 Ap2 hit if failing. Regardless of wherever he passes or fails, the model may then immediatly roll on the Chaos Boon table, re-rolling Spawnhood and Dark Apotheosis results.

- Horrific Incantation: This is a witchfire power with the following profile:
Range: 36" S- Ap3 Heavy 1, Large Blast
The strength of the shot is equal to D3 + the current turn number. Eg a shot fired on Turn 3 will have a Strength value of 3+D3

- Runious Enlightenment: This is a blessing with a range of 6". Choose a single enemy model within range. The chosen unit may re-roll any rolls of 1 until the end of the player turn.

- Spectral Anomalies: This is a malestrom power with the following profile
Range 12" S5 Ap- Heavy D6, Rending

Sacrificial Altar: You may choose to sacrifice members from a unit of Cultists embarked upon the Dark Altar to boost the Dark Altar's power. After choosing the Altar's power for that turn you may remove Cultists from the unit to change the power's effects by the following manner:

- Blessing of the Unholy - Costs D6 Cultists: The selected model may re-roll the Toughness test if failed.
- Horrific Incantation - Costs D6 Cultists: The Strengh value is D6 + Turn number rather than D3
- Ruinous Enlightenment - Costs 2D6 Cultists: The range of the power is increased by 6"
- Spectral Anomalies - Costs D6 Cultists: The power inflicts 2D6 hits rather than D6.

Note that models sacrificed in this manner do not generate any form of victory point for the enemy, nor will this effect cause them to take a Morale Check. Also note that the Cultists sacrificed can be from any unit currently embarked, not necessarily one which began the game embarked upon the Altar.

So imagine a Land Raider. Remove the top of the hull and place the Apostle and the Altar at the back near the engines. The rest of the insides are just a holding cell for Cultists waiting to be sacrificed.

Absolutely fantastic mate, I'm going to remember this stuff and use it in special games at my club.

Though I reckon that blimp should only be dropping Big Bomms, and naturally, cannot ignore any SAG results (any that couldn't work, substitute in some suitable ones!). The SAG should probably be a bit pricier as well - theres already an example of it being fitted to a vehicle (Ork Junka from IA8) and it costs 100pts

Ork Wrekka Wagon
Wagonloads of mechanically minded Grots often accompany da boyz into the fight. They scour the battlefield looking for wrecked vehicles to salvage, before turning them on their previous owners!

-Krewed by Gretchin: This vehicle, and any Looted Wagon it salvages, operates at BS 3

BS 3, 10/10/10

Equipment: Pintle-mounted Big Shoota, Wreckin Ball, Grabber Klaw, Lootin' Tools

Lootin' Tools

During the assault phase, this vehicle may make a special "Loot" action on any wrecked vehicle (from either side!) it is in physical contact with. It may only attempt to loot Tanks and other vehicles - skimmers, fliers etc are not lootable, unless they are Skimmer Tanks. On a d6 roll of 4+, the targeted wreck becomes a Looted Wagon - replace it with a Looted Wagon, ideally one of the same basic vehicle design as the one that was looted (if one is not available, you can use the opponents model with their permission, or just use any old Looted Wagon).

Once a vehicle has been looted, roll a 3d6 on the following chart to see what 'improvements' have been made. The Looted Wagon comes into play immobilized, with no weapons, and with a single hull point. Due to the random nature of Looted Wagons, you need not represent any upgrades on the actual model.
1 - Uhh... dis bit goes dere, and dat bit goes 'ere...: No improvement has been added to the Looted Wagon
2 - Bolt on some plates!: The Looted Wagon gains 1 Hull Point. If it already has three hull points, it gains the rolling scrap pile special rule which confers it with a 5+ invulnerable save. If it already has this upgrade, roll again.
3 - Cherry up dem shootas!: The Looted Wagon gains a single pintle mounted Big Shoota, fired at BS 3. Looted Wagons may have any number of pintle mounted Big Shootas.
4 - Get da big gun ready!: If the wrecked vehicle had any large blast weapons equipped, it now has a Boomgun fired at BS 3. If it did not have a large blast weapon, roll again. The Looted Wagon may not have more than one Boomgun.
5 - We gotta go!: The vehicle is no longer immobilized. If it is already not immobilized, it may now re-roll dangerous terrain. If it can already do this, roll again.
6 - Wat you want boss?: Either choose any of the above options, or roll two more dice on this chart.

A Wrekka Wagon can perform additional loot actions on any Looted wagon, to confer another 3 rolls on the above chart worth of upgrades to it.

I don't think a vehicle that flimsy would handle the recoil of that many powerful guns. And it has way, way, way too much Dakka for it's price. As in a god damn thunderhawk doesn't have that many guns. It will obliterate anything short of a god damn titan in one pass. Who cares if bolters can penetrate it?

It was during a ground assault on a corrupted Hiveworld in the Nemesis sub-sector that their strike cruiser Divine Redemption was shot out of low orbit, and all remaining munitions and marines were evacuated via Drop Pod. Stuck fighting a groundwar without hope of reinforcement the company fought on all the harder against the cultists. It was during this campaign that Capitan Drakassi was felled by an ambush. His soldiers fought to reclaim his body, finding him in a comatose state activated by his sus-an membrane. Working feverishly for days the company apothecary was unable to bring him out of it. The company techmarine was the one who finally came up with the idea of interring him in the chapters most ancient relic, the Iron Carapace, a Dreadnought carapace designed to wreak havoc in close quarters. Upon his interment he resumed command of the chapter in these most dire of situations, though he leads with vengeance and hatred against his enemies, recklessly attacking anything within arm’s reach. Speculation by those under his command say its because the Blood God is attempting to overcome his soul, and every time it happens its because he is being closer to being corrupted.

Love the idea of packs of grots "field looting" a vehicle. Maybe for a point bump, give it some kind of silly shooting attack, like a 6" s2 ap- haywire attack (as grots leap off the wagon and attempt to tear apart a still functioning vehicle!)

You posted this somewhere, and I'm going to say the same thing I did then... No. No super heavy flyer has the same amount of firepower, except maybe the manta, and that is a 2000 point vehicle. This is not that. I see you've dropped the BS and upped the cost, but a better Vulcan Mega bolter and exterminator cannon only go well together on large vehicles. You're trying to keep the cost down with the low AV, but the weapons will obliterate any unit it sees. Figure out exactly what you want the flyer to do, then tine this down to something you would take in a 1500 point game.

'Redemption' the Ace Leman Russ
Description: Surviving many, many battles and world invasions, 'Redemption' was a Leman Russ battletank, borne from the Death Korps of Krieg. Having one of the very longest lives of all tanks, this machine has been everywhere the Korps has been, including when the heretics were driven from Krieg, as well as the siege of Vraks. This machine of warfare has been blessed by many techpriests, and it goes on to wreak havoc once again.

Luckiest Shot in the Korps: Being through so many engagements and coming out relatively unscathed, the Techpriests theorize that it's machine spirit is strong, and that its weaponry have a mind of their own.
Any Ordnance 1 or Heavy 1 weapons shots can re-roll to hit if they fail.
Extra Armour plating: Coming from years and years of service, this old tank has seen some wear and tear, though the owners of this magnificent beast have patched it up to a finer armour condition than regular 'Russes.
It's Side Armour increases by 1.
Other special rules: Heavy Tank.
Points cost: 200
Armaments: Lascannon, Smoke Launchers, Search light, and Main Battle Cannon.
