Hey guys, I was just wondering if you think a chaos army with a allied nid force would work?

I am thinking of 1200 ish on nurgle with 300 or so points of nids for 1500 games.

Something along the lines of Lord, 3 squads of 5 plague marines, some havocs and some cultists as well as a hel turkey for the chaos, then just a trygon prime, and some dev gaunts for the nids? Or possibly a flying hive tyrant?

Do you think this would work and has anyone done chaos + nids themselves?

Yeah, it's a shame. I think the fluff could be stretched so that 'nids ally with a couple of races, I always thought Necrons and Demons would make sense as less likely to have biomass that the Hivemind would want to chow down on, but I'm afraid the ally matrix disagrees :(

Trouble is, you couldn't really stretch the fluff to allow even the tiniest of alliances between nids and another faction, because the nids only care about nomming things. And even then its not the nids themselves - its the Hive Mind in control. The Mind wants to eat everything and the nids are just drones for the most part. And given that the Hive Mind would awnt connection to all the nids in the known universe at all times regardless of location, the odds of running off with a group as allies (read as pets/slaves/cattle) are very small. I recall making a query of this back in 5th, whether DE could take some Nids off Comorragh for giggles.

Rules-wise, yes, nids can't take allies or be allies. Because they want to eat them. And you.

I'd see nids are more allies of convenience or desperate allies with something like demons or necrons - e.g. the Hive Mind making a strategic decision to fight alongside something like necrons or demons in order to get at more tasty organic snacks.

After the battle they'd probably turn on each other, but I think thats the case with a lot of the ally matrix...

Still, unless it gets FAQd (which seems pretty unlikely) nids remain the Billy no mates of 40K.

Ig/Nid allies is the one thing I think got really borked on the allies table. Orc's and Tau are also little iffy, but doable as long as you don't have farsight.

Was under the impression that the Hive Mind had no control over' nids not in synapse. Is this true? Because fluff can definitely be stretched to something like replicating synapse to control nids or something.
