SO I've heard horror story's about army's being destroyed by angry people or kids.

I'm really lucky that I've never had anything serious I've smashed some models but nothing bad really.

So share away, whats your horror story Did you lose a whole figure case dropped it or what?

I was walking along with a soft cardboard box full of entire Dark Angels army. I tripped, landed on top of it, crushing it. Most of the models were damaged in some way (except the dreadnaughts and whirlwind). But that's not really the worst part.

Thanks to the fall, I heavily contused my knee and tore my ACL and MCL. Six months walking with a cane.

I had a friend drop a bicycle on my minis. Crushed five drop pods into their component pieces.

Had a 4000pt wood elf army stolen from my porch whilst moving house - back in '95.

Stopped me playing fantasy until mantic hit the scene - it just wasn't cost effective to restart it.

My puppy (at the time) at them...

Seriously.

One fully painted and based SM, and one Kromlech resin dozer blade.

He didn't actually eat them but he chewed them to smitherines and spit them out.

My tau took a sabold army transport to the ankles.
(Terrible case. zero support/protection.)

Mine were told they couldn't have any more bitz to play with.

Been drunk and my foot was inside my land raider crusader.

Not mine, but my friends Ahriman was beaten to gak with a cricket bat.

because he was tired and couldn't paint the eyes properly.

Playing a game in 5th edition with my Blood Angels army, toying around with a Death Company in Stormravens list. The guy I was playing was a large and infuriating oaf, barely spoke English, was hyper competitive, and clumsy. He hit the corner of the board that was resting on the table it was on. Enough of the board was hanging over the table that it flew into the air. My entire army was on that half of the board. I saw my nicely (as well as I could do) painted minis fly into the air, and my primed Storm ravens shatter into their component pieces.

And then like 4 months later a university employee stole my cases with 90% of that army, thinking they were guns (they were in Plano pistol cases)...

Fire in my Home in Japan destroyed a batch of marines and several inquisitor figures.

A Honda Civic ran over 1500 points of fantasy WoC which then had the small pieces blown down the street by a gust of wind. t'was thenight before 'Ard Boyz too.

My land raider almost got used as a bath toy.

Broken into and lost:

2000 points of Dark Eldar
1500 points of Sisters of Battle
3000 points of Warriors of Chaos
50 points of Retribution

And in the same month, UPS lost a package with 5000 points of Dark Elves.

Dog ate my 20 Longbeards.

Before that cat ate my whole Skaven Mordheim warband...family thought it was Soooooo hilarious.

Loaned out two armies to my brother, the case with my Tau ended up getting shot while he was stationed in Iraq and had about a quarter of the models destroyed. The second was old school metal grey knights which survied Iraq intact but then got lost in transit on the move back from Germany. Good old army shipping services.

Come home to find my freshly painted forge world venerable dreadnought had been torn to pieces by my dog (who was a puppy at the time). It was all over the house and completely un-salvageable.

Thankfully i have never had anything as bad as some of these things happen to my models. But my prised shadowsword once lost half its left tracks to the cat and had to be repaired. and the kitten has taken to the taste of citadel paints resulting in a broken elf prince on griffon and a rare origonal edidition OOP empire steamtank with a chewed smoke stack.

A girl dumped my old metal army on the ground in it's open case, then tried to pick it up....upside down.

A friend's army was at my house in a box and my dog pissed in it. I threw away the box, febreezed the army and gave it back. He was none the wiser

Getting my kids interested in WH40K. I have now lost 2 complete armies as one claimed the Tyranids as "his" and the other claimed the Chaos.

I saw what you did there

not my models (I have dropped a few but nothing serious) but someone I used to flat share with had a nicely painted basilisk as part of his guard army. During a 3rd edition game of 2 vs 2 (2 chaos marine armies vs blood angels and guard if I recall) the basilisk got destroyed by a lucky shot from a predator on the chaos side.

In a fit of stroppiness unbecoming of someone in their late 30's (at the time) the basilisk was then destroyed for real by him launching it over his shoulder across the room.

An entire box of my old-school terminators fell out of the back of my Explorer when I opened the liftgate. they spilled all over the parking lots at the auto parts store where I simply needed to replace a brake light. Needless to say, I was cussing a blue streak all the way home.

Wasn't my models. Was inspecting someone's models the other day. Not sure what he used to paint them but it was pretty bad. If I had to guess it would be standard Walmart krylon spray paint. The paint was so thick I could hardly make out the chest eagles and their heads just look like big blobs of paint. I just wanted to see the models since I hadn't seen the DA models in person yet, made me since inside but I didn't say anything.

I sold some.
