I am currently trying to build a Tyranid swam that will be effective, not really a tourny list, more of a competitive between friends and local GWS battles. I have already posted before about my original list that I have made some heavy mods to will the help of you fellow DakkaDakka members. This will be my new 1500 point list, and I am hoping to get some opinions on any possible next purchases and/or tweaks I can make to these models themselves. The Regen on the MCs was only put after I realized I had enough spare points to fill it up.

They are coming! I feel them scratching inside my mind, scratching, screaming, running, so many - so, so many voices. They are coming for us - flesh, body and soul!

How ironic it is that as fast as we spread progress and hope throughout the galaxy, the Tyranids spread death and despair. Only united can we hope to stand against them.

It's a good list. However, you have far too many points spent on useless upgrades. If you disposed of all regen, adrenal glands on the carnifex, tyrant, and tervigon, scything talons on the tervigon, and Old adversary on the tyrant you would have 140 pts. with these points I would say drop some hormagaunts for the extra 10 pts and take a unit of 3x HIve gurad (150 pts) Then you're solid. Personally though I would convert your warrior models into a unit of 2 hive guard, drop a unit of hormagaunts and add another tervigon with left over points. You don't have to though if you're not interested in a tournament list. Good luck.

Generally agree on stripping out all those upgrades.

Warriors in a 3 strong brood is really too small to have any impact. If you want to give them weapons upgrades so they can kill stuff then double the size of that brood.

Doom and Spore is 130 pts - so you've overcharged yourself there.

Tervigon and flyrant is good, Fex in a spore can be a great disrupton unit, but I'm not feeling at all for those hormogaunts.

My adaptation (1501)

Tyrant - wings, 2x devourers, Hc

Doom - pod
7x ymgarl

Tervigon - 2x powers, Ag, Ts, St
20x termagant - devouers - pod
20x termagant - devouers - pod

Carnifex - 2x devouers - pod

Drop Hive Commander, Regeneration, and Adrenal Glands off the Tyrant. Also drop Old Adversary. There is no point for Old Adversary on the Flying Tyrant, because he won't be nearby any of your units to confer this benefit to others. Also, since your weapon is already twin-linked, he doesn't benefit from the preferred enemy re-rolls. Instead, buy him a second set of brainleech devourers, or keep his lash-whip and bonesword. If you want to give him some melee buff, buy him Toxin Sacs instead for the re-roll to failed wounds.

I would also drop Regeneration on the Tervigon. Buy a third psychic power instead, to increase your chance of snagging the Endurance power from Biomancy. Endurance confers It Will Not Die, which will let you regenerate wounds on top of a nice 5+ Feel No Pain.

I should add that i've had a lot of success with Hormagaunts. They are fast and killy. I run them in big broods (~25-30) so that when they arrive at their destination, they can get the job done. They get expensive, though. Toxin Sacs for them are a must.

I've also had some success with Warriors. Although they are far far from a competitive unit, they are cool models, and can be quite a durable unit if you are facing off against an enemy that doesn't have an excess number of Str 8 shots sitting around. I've found that most opponents don't want to waste shots on the warriors when there are Tervigons and Tyrants still on the board.

I have taken this into account and I do say these are some nice changes I can live with, Minus the dropping hive commander 90% of my games are with a group of local friends at the GW store where I need my reserves fast or I die . The Tervigon I did fix up and he plays much better with Biomancy which I am pleased with. But I do miss the Feel no pain he can give to a friendly unit, (Maybe I am miss reading rules) just incase, when you choose biomancy do I have to drop all my codex powers? And as for the Hormagants I love them, I will never change they way I use them I used to run them Toxin and adrenal but that was to many points, I dropped adrenal and just did toxin sacs and have been playing smaller games to get a feel for them and they are superb, I am picking up enough here soon to be rolling 3 squads of 25-30. which will be the backbone to my swarm, along with the gants I hope to get good rolls on spawning. And as for the warriors, I love the unit itself, I know there are huge downsides to them for point cost and insta kill and such but overall I love how I play mine, I have never been disappointed in my squad and I have considered adding 3 to that 1 brood. I wont get anymore then that cause they do chew up points but in most games I have played they never really died without taking out equal to or more then their point cost.

I do agree however I disagree with the removing of adrenal glands from the Tervigon, I love how that works when I do my brood spawning and the Tervigon confers those to the gants. In the near future I am looking at getting 3 more Tervigon's for my swarm army, I mean 10 points on him that gives it to everyone he spawns for free, when you are not playing super competitive its a pretty fun upgrade especially when my opponent under-estimates bot the Tervigon and Gants and focuses on the others until it is to late

I also did manage to shred off around 200 points leaving me room for either more swarms or a Tervigon . Was at 1503 at 1383 now which is nice, I still have a week to add what I want thanks for all the advice!

With Psychic Powers - you exchange all of your book powers for a 'roll' on the table. Thus, if you buy two powers for the Tervigon (Catalyst and Onslaught) you can exchange your three powers (Dominion, Catalyst, and Onslaught) for three rolls on the Biomancy table - re-rolling any double powers. Biomancy is excellent. Endurance is a great power which is the direct replacement for Catalyst. It's actually a better power - with a 24' range and also confers It Will Not Die. Iron Arm is another excellent power that can turn your Tyrant or Tervigon into unstoppable monsters.

Iron arms what you want take 3 power to make sure you get it it makes sitting on a objective so much fun . I agree with what has been said but like you said don't drop hive commander you have to keep the presure on.

LIst is coming along, and since no one else seems to have pointed it out, don't post individual upgrade costs.

On the warriors ditch the VC for a Barbstrangler. The VC just does not have enough going to for it and is to easy to scatter off target.

Hmm now that I know the rules to that, I am for sure going to try that out on some Tervigons, what other models would Biomancy help out?
