The SWM KS is closing very soon, so it's not really any surprise that money will shift over there pretty quickly. It's not something that I would worry about, and this KS doesn't cash in until the next payday for most so shifting 15K is not a big deal at this point . $60 from this paycheck for a board, $? next paycheck for the game.
I think it was a good investment. They help out (and possibly establish a good relationship in the future with) SWM, and existing backers of SWM get exposed to the Deadzone KS. Two companies helping each other out.

good point. I hope it doesn't interfere with the terrain Deadzone will launch apparently this week. As that has also peaked my interest and I am still on the sidelines of pledging.

I don't think it resulted in any loss on this kickstarter- Secret Weapon is in it's final week, so it's going to be increasing anyway.
And as d-usa said, people who buy a Deadzone board in that kickstarter will want plenty of game items here to use on it

Not quite the terrain update we were hoping for, but it will have to do for now!
Building Blocks
Update #21 · May 5, 2013 · 2 comments
Lots of you have been asking for scenery add-ons and the good news is that they are coming - later this week in fact! To get us in the mood, here's a little piece on what you can expect from the new sprues...
Concepting a world
All of the Deadzone scenery has been 3D sculpted and will be made from injection moulded plastic. Ahead of the Kickstarter we had some 3D prints done, resin moulds made and some pieces cast so that we could build a gameboard for photography. And what a job Golem Painting Studio did for us…
As you can see, Golem have taken a number of Wall and Floor tiles and put together some very nice looking buildings.
Because this board was designed for photography, there’s lots of fairly open space, though when you’re playing Deadzone we imagine smaller buildings that are a bit more open so you can get your hands in – don't forget that the buildings are fully compatible with all of the major sci-fi gaming systems and there's nothing stopping you from building some truly monstrous creations!!
Deadzone games are designed to be claustrophobic with tight, twisting alleyways – in this picture, Jake Thornton takes Josh Roberts and James M. Hewitt through a pre-alpha version of the game to teach them the core mechanics.
You can see from the gameboard just how much variety there will be on the sprues – there are several different floor tile designs as well as walls with windows, no windows, door ways, cross sections plus ladders, railings and barricades – and that’s not all…
If you look carefully you can see two specially detailed connectors, either side of the doorway on the building on the right, on the skywalk and on the base of the tower - this is just one of the connector designs included on the sprue. It’s this innovative connector system that makes the building kits so versatile.
This digital mock-up of a sprue shows off some of the tile designs (not all of them!) - remember that this is just a mock-up of a sprue, contents and layout is still to be decided.
If you fancy your own Deadzone-specification gameboard, then with a pledge of Fleet Command and up we will build one for you!
These pledges are highly limited and includes us building and painting the 6 scenery sprues you currently get, though we are going to be adding more scenery sprues the further the campaign goes!
We’re looking forward to getting more pics and videos of the scenery out this week!

I do think the cross-promotion hurt, part of which was people fighting over it in the comments section yesterday. I do think the lack of milestones to push towards is having a bit of an impact. I feel the holiday is having a slight impact.
With that said, it did pick back up a tad in the last few hours. All in all, will probably gain another 50 backers or so today. Automatically Appended Next Post: Already getting excited about the scenery sprues. Get ready for a decent explosion mid-week!!

If it truly is 6 wall pieces per sprue, that's what it would mean. But if some of those wall pieces are walkway walls, as it seems to be the case, then it could go up dramatically.
I have no idea about their various sizes (I could check, but I won't) but Sarissa's mdf pods and walkways would probably make up for anything else you might need, honestly. Or some trusty foamcore and mdf pieces.

It does seem that way, doesn't it?
It is going to take a lot of sprues to make decent looking buildings...

I'm going to have loads of fun with these sprues.
First thing I'm gonna make will be a small pyramid with 4 walkways coming out of the top leading to separate towers.

12 floor tiles with 20 wall sections.
So 6 Sprues, assuming 4 walls and 2 floors sections per sprue.
The box set is going to have to come with multiple sprues or it's going to be a laughable amount of terrain.

Yes. I think it'll be nice to supplement an existing collection, but will be quite a financial burden to outfit a table more than 2' X 2' with them. Fair enough though, as that is the size of the table they gear their game towards, but'd love to have myself some 3 storey buildings and many walkways to snag my hands in and throw minis on the floor from!

This is Mantic and hard plastic we're talking here. Prepare to be very surprised at the value for money on the bulk-buy sets. It would not surprise me if they managed to get it down to $5/sprue for mass bulk, at which point you're looking at spending $40 for all of the terrain you see on that sample board.
In fact, Mantic have already said they'll be making a super bulk buy bundle that will have more than enough terrain to cram a 4x4 board full.

If we're talking $5 a sprue, this could be great.
If we're talking $10 a sprue I'm not getting any more than what my pledge level comes with.

We don't know that for sure yet. Mantic tends to be pretty darn reasonable in its prices, and they like to make it rain plastic like a rapper in a strip club in their Kickstarters. I'm really curious to see what they want per sprue on Wednesday; I'm guessing that my 'Oh, why the hell not?' point will be covering a 4x4 for $100US.

I have no previous experience with them, as per my previous question. I hope you guys are justified in your faith in them... and I'll certainly share in the Kool-Aid if we get that kind of news.
I've been left cynical with the recent trend in wargaming GW has taken lately. I have a 20$ store cred I still can't be bothered with, as they only stock GW or Reaper, and my fiancee doesn't appreciate board games.

@ Joe - it really depends on how dense or tall you want your buildings. There are about 24 tiles used in Jake's mock-up (which is 4 sprues at the current specification) and you've already got more than that with Strike Team. We've got a very sexy bundle coming out though that should more than cover a 4"x4" - watch this space!
I'm guessing 5 with extras like the ladder?

Well, as you surmised, we can't know for sure, since we have only seen a mock-up of the sprue. And one of our sprues was upgraded to another type, and then we've got the accessory sprue too.
Which I find weird, honestly. If they could build their buildings, then they have to be at more than a mock-up phase, and at the price 3D printing must cost, I don't imagine they would print so much, would they?

They printed a few bits, and then resin casted multiples. Its still much cheaper then paying for the plastic mold.

*shrugs* since THEY didn't have the sprues as well at the time, they could be a little off. But like you guys have said, we could comfortably say you could accomplish something similar to Golem's mock up with the Strike Force sprues, and not be lacking too much with recon.
But all us Necro players know that's no fun, so I'll take around 30 or so for some awesome 3-4 player showdowns on a good size board. I want to avoid OK coral type games as much as possible.

As always, mantic, your miniatures are FREAKING awesome and among the best stuff you can get for your money on the market. I love what you've done with the Enforcers and the Marauders, but what really gets my curiosity up is the two others, the ones that arent in Warpath....what I want to know, will they be? I really like the style of the Rebs and the Contagion, and I would love to field armies of them for the less skirmishy battles. and of course, Kudos on the Great Terrain.

Mantic has already confirmed that every model in the Deadzone KS will have rules for Warpath , and Enforcers will become their own faction split off from the Corporation, as well as the independent Rebs and Plague factions.

Not to raise a dead horse just to beat it again (although I am doing just that i guess), but I don't think the cross promotion was a bad idea at all. I think the issue was that the announced plastic board wasn't considered to be better for a lot of people (myself included) than the printed mouse pad mat they're getting for free. Some people (again, me) are all about paying a bit more for better stuff, and I feel like the announced plastic board fell down in that regard.
On an unrelated, completely positive note, the Rebels are turning into a truly interesting and awesome faction! The mixed races was already freaking sweet, but now they're going to have they're own seperate objectives?! "Don't fight them at their game, you can't woin. Fight them at YOUR game"?! Fabulous! So stoked to see their rules!

Let's say, for sake of argument, that I don't want the game but I want certain minis (I know, I know - what am I doing here if I don't want the game? - but stick with me).
Say I want:
x1 First Generation ($12)
x1 Rebs Tactical Field Commander ($8)
x1 Enforcer Engineer ($5)
x1 Second Generation ($8)
x1 Enforcer Sniper ($5)
x1 Third Generation w/HMG ($5)
x4 Third Generation Plague w/Rifles ($12)
x2 Sentry Guns ($5)
x2 Survey Drones ($5)
+Shipping to Oz ($5)
Total of $70.
Or am I better off just getting the Scout level (1 First Gen, 3 Second Gen, 4 Third Gen, 1 Third Gen w/HMG, Hounds) and then adding the other things on?
