^ The final models for the medic and riot shield guys are going to look pretty much exactly like their 3d renders. All the other enforcers have done so far.

Where was the mention of 20 dollar boosters?
I thought it was 50 for the new Enforcer one. How much is it going to run me for all 4 factions eventual boosters?
The math is getting lost on me in a sea of soldiers and zombies.

So to get all the specialists for the factions, you could pop $20 a faction?
So Strike Team + $80 gets you all the main factions plus all their specialists?
Then if you want Ast/FF, you would add the $50 for the two starter packs.

Glad to see this surface. I'm not sure if I'll dive in myself since I have plenty of miniatures already (I really am mostly in this for the terrain,) but it's nice to see other people get what they want. It'll probably just make the stuff I *do* want that much better (plus, eh, by the time the second wave survey goes out I'll probably have $50 to toss at a BOGOF.)

That's the difference with renders. That *is* the model.

Not like it matters now, with the very nice $50 Booster BOGO offer!

This is much, much better. My pledge staying in at it's level and possibly rising is much more likely now. Kudos Mantic. Especially using digital renders so we know what the models will look like instead of concept art which scares me.

Alright I think I've got the booster thing figured out.
If you look at the 50 dollar bundle, it says it includes 3 boosters- two faction boosters, one specialist booster.
Those boosters of four or five figures are what I'm assuming are 20 dollars each. So in effect you're paying $50 for $60 worth of figures, plus getting another bundle on top of that if I'm reading it correctly.
Maybe?

^ Correct.
It's a stacked deal, and the end result is that it's actually better than BOGOF... more like a 60% discount than a 50% one.
$20 = 1 booster
$50 = 3 boosters (saving $10)... and then there's the BOGOF on top which takes you to:
$50 = 6 boosters (saving $70)
$100 gets you $240 worth of minis.
And to put any worries about eventual RRP to rest, $20/£12 for 5 minis sounds about right for the retail release for these things when you consider that Dreadball team boxes are $25/£15 for 8 minis.

Thanks.

Yeah, this is one of my favourite developments in the wider hobby, the widespread use of digital sculpting is great (especially for very mechanical units). This is what made pumping nearly $600 in to Warzone so easy, because they showed off renders and enough finished models to show you how renders translated in to resin (very, very well). This is why I'm excited for the FF's with the rumour that they will get the digital treatment as well.
If Forge Fathers get one of these boosters down the line, I can't promise I wont go crazy and make my way across the pond to actually throw money at Mantic staff directly. Residents of the UK, you have been warned!

Alright, first off, that Asterian starter is running you $35, so you don't need to add the $10 shipping for Wave 2 anymore (a relatively recent change). That said, since you already have $45 down you may think of grabbing the EU Pack with Asterians and FF (and then grab whatever you want for your free starter).
To get all of the boosters you will either spend $80 ($20 for each single booster) or $100 ($50 twice for buy-one-get-one booster bundles, which contain a lot more stuff).
So $150 for the initial pledge, $80-100 for boosters (I recommend the latter), and $35 for the Asterian starter (though bumping up to $50 for Asterians and FF's may work better for you considering you are basically already down for $45 for the Asterian booster as of now).

First off, you don't need to pay the $10 shipping, they changed that so any pledge with $20+ of any add-ons gets it free.
Secondly, $100 gets you the lot. 2 booster bundles for $50 each + 2 free.

So that's definitely strike team + 2 booster bundles + 2 battlezones.
Might as well go for something to make up the $300.

Mwahahaha, I have caught up with the last page of this thread! Where is my sttretch goal reward?
I identify with the quote below.
Extremely unimpressed with restic, both my project pandora models and especially dreadball. Really they were fiddly, a sod to clean, had worthless extra parts (yes extra parts if there is wide interchangeability, no if there is only one possible pose) and all in all get to sit half completed while I use bloodbowl models instead. I look at my $35 Impact bloodbowl spun resin teams and I cry tears of frustration at what might have been.
So deadzone. I like Jakes games. So I got a $140 early bird. But I can't bring myself to risk on the models again. Plastic terrain, yes I will try it not least because I know the sculpter (who is doing his own plastics crowdfunder and doing new sprue moulds for less than £3000...), mat cool, rules nice, restic models no way in hell. I know others who went for dreadball who won't touch Mantic restics again and refuse to back this. On the plus side this is going to be really easy to proxy models for.
But - plastic! Bring them out in plastic. Yea gods I would go in with a vengeance for some good sci fi plastics and I largely gave up on 28mm 20 years ago bar stuff like bloodbowl. I would pay more per model to lose the restic and get plastic. I would actually want the models for a start...
Alpharius wrote:Mantic is at a bit of a crossroads with Deadzone, at least for me.
Kings of War is suffering from a bad transition from concept art to actual miniatures.
Dreadball suffered from some really bad quality Restic miniatures making it out into the wild.
Deadzone has already had one misstep in terms of concept art to miniature in the Orx Marauder figures.
Now, there's not much faulting Mantic's customer service in terms of trying to accommodate people that want to switch things up if they don't like the look of miniatures that previously only existed as art, or in replacing defective casts, but...
IF there are similar problems with Deadzone, I'll pretty much be done with Mantic - and certainly won't support Warpath when it is announced/Kickstartered/released.
Which would be a shame, as Mantic has a golden opportunity to really grab some market share now...

Not actually true.
Both the mould construction and the casting material have an impact on how closely the final model resembles the render, as does the detailing on the render itself... final models are often much less detailed than the render due to material shrinkage, or whatever printing process is used not being a high enough resolution. They can also wind up less chunky, also due to shrinkage.
A render shows you what they want the miniature to look like. It's no guarantee that the final miniature will be as good. Nor does the showing of a render mean that the miniature is even castable as presented...

Indeed. See my previous post with examples of actual mantic issues from both the production level and purposeful design changes made by management well after the crowdfunding ended. I love the medic enforcer render.. but I don't have much confidence that I'd eventually receive that exact model almost a year (!) from now with all the growing pains Mantic has had of late.

After doing a bit of fiddling with my pledge, it looks like I can drop some of the specialists I had pledged for and with a bit of extra cash, I'll be able to take part in the BOGO deal. Awesome! Hell, for $23 more dollars, I'll actually be getting a ton more figures for my money.
I'm glad to finally see that Enforcer with the Power Fist. They've been teasing us with him since nearly the beginning of this. That medic also looks really cool. I don't recall ever seeing such a badass looking medic mini before. And whoever mentioned him looking like Ratchet, that is actually a great idea for a paintjob for him! The only downside is that it means I'll have to practice painting white.

I'm not sure of what model had an injection point on detail, could you please provide the example? There closest I can think of was the Z'zor had one on the side of the face that was a right bastich to get off, but not on detail. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention though.
The twist-instead-of-snipped thing is (hopefully) a problem at their supplier that yes, they need to straighten out. However, that has nothing to do with the accuracy of a digital sculpt going from computer to model.
The two KoW models you reference were sculpted in the traditional method AFAIK, not as 3D sculpts so I'm not sure how they're relevant to the discussion about Mantic's ability to produce them as shown at this point. The problem Mantic appears to have with translation is concept art to a traditional sculpt (when not using Remy at least); not with their 3D sculpts.
The DreadBall robots look like what was shown in the render phase, so it would follow the Enforcers will follow along those lines. Will it be exactly as detailed as the renders? Probably not for the reasons insaniak lays out, but it won't be a wholesale cathorse-ing of the concept. I would venture to say what you see in a 3D render will end up being 90% of what you get in terms of model. The things that insaniak mentions as pitfalls are typically known by professionals and accounted for, it's just a matter of what the factory can execute.
These additions are very interesting to me, but I don't know that they made a course of action on pledging any clearer.

Just an FYI, I contacted Mantic via the Kickstarter message/ PM to let them know I still wasn't happy with the Orx (the silly grins and all), and asked if we were stuck with the dancing sniper and asked about the orx being multi-piece to make converting easier and I got this reply:
Mantic Rep Chris wrote: we will be making some other minor adjustments based on feedback. They are actually based on the same design as the DreadBall Guard, maybe with some paint on they'll bring that sense of viciousness back.
1) We're undecided on the running away Goblin sniper yet.
2) All of them will be multi-piece. I've asked the studio to see if they can make it so the arms are interchangeable. We'll see what happened!
Regardless they should be easily convertible
Thanks,
Chris!
I was glad to get an answer, not too happy that a coat of paint is the solution to mean looking killing machines vice happy silly orks. I do hope they ditch the dancing sniper. Honestly a 'running away' (which is a kind way of saying dancing) figure in a small unit game seems silly. I want action poses. If I need to show a fig as morale broke/retreating/routing I'll use a marker or mark the roster...
If they can pull off interchangeable arms it will pretty cool.
