No point really to unveil stuff that far in advance, other than confuse people who'd start backing away, only to potentially be told at the end that that particular stretch-goal hasn't been reached yet.

What Mantic would need is a Reaper/Dwarfen Forge-style "stretch-goal-map" to give a better visual guide to where it's at.

I was hesitant to believe it, but now I'm convinced. Mantic has to be intentionally throttling this kickstarter.

They pass a stretch goal, $15,000 ago and when we finally get an update, there's no new stretch goal and a teaser image we've already seen. All this with 3 days to go.

They must have over extended themselves on DB and need to keep this one more under control.

Sounded like you'd recommend them to put all cards on the table at 48h, while doubting that they'd actually do it.

As someone actively watching this from the beginning it feels like Mantic IS actively trying to keep down the potential of this Kickstarter. Which is sad but hey, maybe they just couldn't keep up with demand from the previous ones and didn't want it to go to crazy. This could easily have broken 1 million. As it is it's still possible but becoming less likely by the hour as they dont' update stretch goals and continue to put in things like rules stretches in the later portion of the kickstarter.

Oh well, I'm still currenly in for $300 but that's likely to drop to $165 and then I might add stuff on the pledge tracker thing afterwards.

I just can't decide between Enforcers or Marauders.

I think people are seriously overestimating Mantic's ability to use subtle pushes to increase or decrease the rate at which pledges are made. I'm sure they're very clever guys, but thinking that they are actively throttling the amounts smacks of usual conspiracy-theory reaching. They put out a mini update because they are finalizing a big one that is going to drop sometime prior to Ronnie coming on. No need to attribute it to the fell intentions of the KS Illuminati trying to keep the pledge total down because they fear success.

Kickstarters aren't over till they're over, so starting the debriefing about how this one didn't do X or Y when we are over 72 hours away from the finish line is more than a little premature.

I'm finding the reaction to the mini update, put up mainly to acknowledge the $375k goal, a little bit weird. But people do tend to get emotional about their Kickstarter's around this time. They've said there will be a larger update today, but they needed to finalize some details and get it prepared. I'm sure if they had waited to just do that one, then everyone would be up in arms about how Mantic wasn't acknowledging the $375k goal.

The real magic happens on the last day (maybe even the second last as well) and we aren't there yet (though the pledges have started kicking up at least). So let's just sit back and relax a bit. Beer anyone?

Before then you'll have another update - with plenty more strech goals!! Seriously we are trying to tie together both a series of interesting stretch goals and enough visibility of goals to keep everything rolling.

Chris is currently writing the update for the next 2 or 3 goals past the ones we are chasing, and finalising the needs for the ones after that.

I told him to get this (mini) update out to acknowledge the achievement of hitting the multiplayer stretch - and then freeing him up to write the next update.

In the next few days we will be looking to bring onboard the new backers that will really lift the kickstarter on to new heights - and provide our current backers with more choice and freebies.

Right, I am going to leave Chris to write his update (I have stolen his machine!!) and will see you all online in about 1hour 40 minutes!!

Hopefully they stretches for the boosters aren't 20k each. If they're 15k each, that has three stretches that are pretty easy to cover up to $750k. Add in some freebies after that and it's a pretty reasonable span, even though almost all add-ons.

I'm not suggestion some devious conspiracy or fear of success. There is nothing wrong with a growing company knowing what they are capable of and controlling the flow of information to keep things from getting bigger than they can deal with.

Not telling people you are intentionally keeping a KS from getting too big isn't conspiratorial, it's just protecting your image. It may be necessary, but people would not view it well.

I'd rather it be kept to a level where they can deliver what they promise. I'm not upset or angry. I'm simply stating my opinion.

I'm rather confused, so the Plague is the Zombie/monster faction, but they have mortars?

That seems an... odd addition to a faction that also produces shambling hordes of infected...

Zombies with guns isn't new. Sed Wars had them (although as part of them). Halo Evolved had 'em and I'm sure other people before that did them.

The infection has different levels - so some people can still use guns just like normal, others rely on ripping the hands from ~~Space Marines~~ Enforcers while smiling wryly.

Zombie monsters need indirect fire too!

I don't want Plague or Enforcer Boosters. I want Marauder and Rebel Boosters, and I don't want to feel like I have to squeeze more money into the Kickstarter just to get what Enforcers,and now Plague, are already getting.
