So, at 2k points you can run a second FoC, including a second fortification. I've been looking to see if it is specified anywhere that you have to place a quad-gun/icarus lascannon from the ADL within a certain distance of the defense line. so far, I haven't seen anything that would prohibit me from doing something like surrounding the base of the landing pad with the defense line and putting the gun up on the landing pad for better LoS and the invuln save. Am I overlooking something?

It is debatable. All sections of the ADL must be on base contact. Some see the Weapon/Relay as a section and must therefore be placed in base contact. Others do not. I thought there was a rule on how far Fortifications must be from one another though.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yes, the quad-gun/icarus lascannon is an option for the ADL so it needs to be placed with the ADL.

The same way the optional Lascannons from a Predator have to be placed on the predator model and not on the Land Raider you bought.

There is, page 120 states they can't be within 3" of each other.

I don't have my book on hand since i'm at work, but doesn't that 3" apply to when you are setting out the randomized terrain? If so, that occurs after deploying fortifications

It kind of says that, but lets get the exact wording shall we:

"Fortifications must be set up wholly within the owning player's table half and not within 3" of another fortification." (120)

the ADL and Gun emplacement are not two different fortifications. They are one fortification and as such must be placed together.

Ok, this is the part I missed. I was thinking it was too good to be true

Dude I was talking about the skyshield and ADL, not the gun that comes with the ADL.

Sorry, I realize that happyjew's post didn't really portray there were two parts to his comment.

I was just trying to be more exact, as your post left many questions.
