You're likely in a bit of a mess; people aren't going to start liking things because they get badgered to. Only suggestion I have is to try finding a Black Library book that lines up more with something she'd normally read, but if you're not having success, stop pushing. You're not going to do yourself any favors or endear yourself to a sibling by going on and on and on about something she's got no interest in.

Depends a lot on what she's into outside of gaming. If she's into the 40K setting, but doesn't want to play with toy soldiers, then Dark Heresy, or any one of the other 40K RPGs, might be the way to go. If she's into painting but not playing? Maybe see if she's into Chaos, Tyranids or Dark Eldar.
Maybe reinforce the Eldar's connection to mysticism, their natural talents at world-shaping, their features and their association with the fatalism of Tolkien's elves to establish that the Eldar are, in fact, Elves in Spaaace.
There's also the major problem, and this is possibly an insurmountable problem... she's a teenager. In high school. Are any of her friends gamers? No? Then you won't win this. She's at an age where the peer-group, and the acceptance of her peer-group, will define her actions and her interests. If her friends aren't drama club kids/comic book geeks/gamer nerds... then she's not going to have any interest in gaming.

Actually got started in Tx, near corpus Christi. As for the whole "kid" shenanigans I'm only 16 myself but I try to keep things to a more adult level when Possible. I did, however just manage to subconsciously plant the thought (on accident mind you) by leaving up the St. Celestine pic on my laptop when I went to the head. Came back and she was browsing some of the SOB units, too bad they don't have a codex. As far as the other ideas go, planning on looking for a club at my college (where can I pick up a 40k tee?) and her boyfriend lives in Florida so that's not gonna work either. As for friends/peer group she's cyber schooled (only viable high school in the area has barbed wire fences and a metal detector at the entrance) so yeah many of em are shut in nerds. Will see how things go from here (any idea where to get a sisters dex these days? My father has the 3rd Ed. One somewhere I'm sure but I don't feel like going through every codex and WD since rogue trader era)

The SOB has several Codices... I think the last true Codex for them, however, is 20 years old at this point. Their most recent "minidex" is spread over 2 issues of White Dwarf... it's not *great* but it's playable.
Getting Sisters miniatures, however... *that* can be tricky/expensive.

I live at home, don't pay rent and got a scholarship ill pay to play if I gotta. I have a couple k worth of plastic crack I haven't used (aside from painting) in almost a year now. I thought there was Codex: Witch Hunters about the SoB? Honestly I got my kicked by the SoB last time I played them (dastardly faith points...) but they seemed tricky to learn. Maybe ill just use them as female Marines for play/ease purposes. I'd be fine with it and itd give her a backstory to write up (shes a fledgling writer who was recently stuck by writers block)

I may be exaggerating (slightly) as C:WH really is only 10 years old. Still, that was 3 editions of the game ago.

3rd Edition had Codex: Witch Hunters which was the Inquisition's Ordo Hereticus + Ecclesiarchy Battle Sisters, each as standalone armies with the option to be mixed with the other.
Their most current rules are is the downsized 5th Edition Codex: Sisters of Battle, which has (as mentioned by Psienesis) only been released in White Dwarf so far.
Just in case you're considering it, I *think* these are the issues that, when combined, make up the 'dex:
US issues: 379, 380
UK issues: 380, 381
If you really want to be sneaky about it, you could hunt them down on e-bay and then just toss them to your sis.
"Hey, I noticed you were looking at SoB - maybe you can use these, I just had them lying around."
If you want to follow through with it, I can also find out which of the recent issues had the painting guide.
Psienesis wrote:Getting Sisters miniatures, however... *that* can be tricky/expensive.
Also very rewarding, though...
They do look beautiful, I think. At least when you're into the whole knightly stuff.

Like I said, for now just get her involved on the modeling side of it. Get her some models to paint and see where it goes form there.

Ill get some soon and see what happens. Like I said as a gateway ill just use C:SM rules until I track down the WD or the old 3rd ed. dex. I also still have some odds and ends on the DV chaos cultist sprue I can sacrifice for modeling opportunities (my tzeench marines don't need em anyway) to help her get interested. Still no luck on the WH 40k tee front anyone know a store or do I need one custom printed?

If she is a sore loser then you need her to pick it up on her own. 10 years ago My lil bro and i got into magic and we were the only people that we could play against...I beat him every tie and there were a few close battles, but it turned him off from the game. Come 7 years later he got back into it before I did! You just need to wait and she will eventually get into it. She says Eldar aren't elves, but it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck so it must be a duck!

I'm great at taking a fall for the first few battles (used to be the only one at my old FLGS to play the TFG's) but she should get a grasp of it easy enough. As for the elder thing its cuz she doesn't read any fluff... they frakking scream elves. Eldest race, graceful, psychic, pointy eared and arrogant. What part doesn't scream elf?

Ask if she likes dagger wielding slutty, sexy, drug taking, sadistic, hedonistic soul vampire elves in space. Seriously, the dark eldar have beatuiful models, if she doesnt love them see wont love any. They are the only army that contains a lot of females *i dont count SOB as an army because i can't buy there codex or battleforce or heck, even models from my local GW* and not to mention those females are KICK ASS!
Show her your terminators, show here lilith, then say here HAIR goes straight through the terminator. Plus with new updates wyches are *debatably* really strong this edition, ebing the best anti tank in the game!

I... somehow doubt that your sister is going to be interested in playing BDSM Fetish Elves with Bad Attitudes and Big Hair. I mean, I could be wrong, I don't know you or your sister from Adam (or Eve), but... in my experience dealing with teenagers... I really, really doubt it.

Yeah. Eldar seemed more likely imho. She prefers gunlines to static groups. Brilliant idea, Tau. One of the only armies I don't have (the dex was too old) and she digs anime. WHY did I not think of this sooner?

because lightbulbs only turn on when you flick the switch. Wait for the new tau codex though (rumored to come out within a week or two) and then shove it in your sisters face and say " IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT!" she says yes and both of you are happy. She might not like the boxyness of the tau though :/

This is ... creepy. "I'd like to introduce my sister to 40k." "She's a woman, let's talk to her about sex and BDSM and sluts and stuff!" "But... she's my sister..."

Yeah ive been slowly but surely getting my GF into the game. Dont nearly have your resources but shes coming along. The problem is she has a super short attention span. But she fell in love with lilith. Its the only real fluff shes read. Of course she picks a race i know nothing about but it gives me the opportunity to learn em some.
As far as getting your sister into it? Keep having her look at different stuff until she falls in love with something. You could also plant some eldar fluff that doesnt say anything about eldar specifically, but does reference being elves basically, where she'll read it. If she comes to ask you about it then your sold lol
