yeah I figured since gorthor has been dead for centuries.
As for Finubar i guess he's wise enough to know that while he is an able general Tyrion is better so why not let Tyrion command the armies allowing Finubar to concentrate on stuff he is better at. The best phoenix kings would be the best coordinators not doing things themselves but knowing who to put in charge of each task.
I'd say that Finubar learned a lot from his predecessor bel'hator who seemed to have similar talents, chosing Finubar for his diplomat to the old world for an example.

I feel it is much better fluff to have some of the armies not have their "ruler" as the most imposing model on the field, but rather have something else like a general as the guy (or gal I suppose) that is the best center piece. The problem that then comes up, if the ruler has a model, players will complain that he isn't up to snuff with the other "Lord" options.
So I feel in some cases, it might be best not to even give the King a model, as giving him an "average" model will raise more complaints then no model at all.

I still think you could bring an army's "grand leader", and don't have to make him a beatstick.
For instance, you could maybe represent Finubar's status with some kind of army-wide or army construction bonus. Improve seaguard if he's around, increase access to certain units. Something like that.
I actually really like those occasions when they put a character in the game that does something like that. In 40K, I always thought it was weird, that every old guy who'd made the rank of Colonel in the IG was beefier than most of his soldiers.

The way I understood it, they were going to take the core aspects of each lore, so yeah basically. The HEs were the ones to teach magic to the humans so I guess it makes sense that their ultimate magic, high magic, would have all of their characteristics.

Maelström, the Spanish guy who bring rumours that has been proved true —such as phoenixes—, brought this morning —Spanish time— some new rumours. A lot of salt on them nevertheless, more than usually.
- Plastic huge Treeman —also can be used by WE—. It's been done since two years ago. It was thought only for WE but has been put into this wave for HE because of the lack of ideas.
- Plastic Maidenguard-Avelorn. They share with Shadow Warriors: heavy armor, shiled, spear-halberd as in LOTR, great weapon and magic bows. Bodies for male and female. Shadow Warriors wear helms and cloaks and they are scouts.
- Monstruous Infantry, ¿Elementales? from Changing Islands. Options for all four elements. Maelström says this is the first time he hears about that. He's also received an email talking about MC with eagles.
- Griffon/monster, Eltharion.
- Blister Finecast: Alarielle, Teclis, Alith Anar, Belennaer.
- Blister Plastic: Warrior wizard from Hoeth, heroe on foot with lion cloak.
- New Batallion Box: more expensive: 10 shadow warriors/maiden, 20 spears, bolthrowe or however it's said in English and 8 silver helms.
- No new model for Imrik and no drakes MC. Dragons can be placed as rare 1-3.
Seems pretty craptastic to me, but a lot of the rumors on HE’s seem fake. All you can do is forward them and let time sort them out.
Nopuiiidorl over at Warseer wrote:I have to say that people as mistaking him heavily (because of bad translations into english). Maeltröm actually SAID in the spanish thread that, in this very last wave, he was going to let us know ALL the rumors he had gathered, albeit he himself knew that all this rumors are VERY VERY unlikely, uncertain or whatever you want to call it. Probably the treeman rumor is false (he did say that), but, for instance, the idea of taking sun dragons 1-3 rare option just... may be possible (and no dragon cavalry). The idea of a MI or MC must be there, for ALL armies in 8ed. have had one of these options.

The stupid thing is them not releasing the book a week before the models so that people can actually figure out what items they want to buy. No way in hell I'm preordering any units until I've read the book.
I'm also not looking forward to losing 90% of my magic item selection.

It might be that now the "Maidenguard" refers to a group of both male and female Elves who guard the Everqueen and/or her Handmaidens.

I didn't think that the female Wyches or Kabalite Warriors were bad...
They mostly suffered when it came to the heads where they tried to make it so that there were no bare heads that were clearly male or female.

The difference is that Book is a bit OP, whereas the rest of those I listed are not.
There is very little in the way of magic item synergy in the new books.

I don't see what is so hard about making 3-4 female models in the same kit as 6-7 male models when appropriate. But make the female parts completely seperate from the male parts. Have we really gotten delusional in modern society that there is no "physical" difference between men and women?
The Wyches look odd. There really aren't "gender neutral" heads on people. It's why most guys can tell if a trany is hitting on them. The Wyches could have stayed 100% female as well. Do many of you lads really fantasize about being a "wych" that they needed to represent that? It just seemed completely unnecessary to go in that direction.

I think it's less a change in modern society and more an issue that GW has just been so bad at sculpting women for so long that any success feels like a phenomenal success. I started in the day of Repanse de Lyonnesse. After that, yeah, I can see how the new DE Wyches might be seen as a step up.

The old bret sorceress on foot is about the most successful GW female sculpt to date imho. That's not saying much mind but at least she looked like she was born female. Does anyone actually believe that the pheonix pics were a mistake? I think it's a marketing ploy in all probability the increased hype a few "illicit" pictures generates and pages and pages of wish listing would justify that.
Back on topic I hope to god they don't put more fugly spearmen into a battalion box. They should do the IoB LSG instead at least the contents would look good then.
