I thought that the Nurgle and Tzeentch Heralds were originaly Finecast, so I decided to give them a miss. Today I saw both and theny are in plastic. Have they always been so or did they switch from being Finecast?

The Nurgle Herald is new this month and was released as plastic.
The Tzeentch Herald (on the disc) has always been finecast and is not currently plastic.

The hive tyrant transitioned to finecast before being replaced with a plastic kit. Chaos raptors went from metal to finecast and were replaced with a plastic kit. I'm sure there are other examples.

They changed the design on the raptors though. Both are good but I love the old jumppack design better.

All the models change when going from metal/finecast to plastic because the process changes.

From afar, some of the boxes can trick you a bit, especially daemons. The box design for the plastic characters looks a bit like the finecast boxes and it fooled me too.

The Herald of Tzeentch on the chariot I saw at the store today is plastic, and it is currently listed on the GW site as a multi part plastic kit. I've been hearing rumors that GW is finally wising to the fact that a a fair percentage of their customers are not happy with Fincast and they are seriously thinking of getting out of using it if a couple of fixes they are going to try do not work.

The old Tzeentch herald on Disc is still finecast. The guy that comes with the plastic chariot is plastic. How very odd.

I wonder if it's the size difference between the two Tzeentch heralds that accounts for the difference in materials used. In any event, I know that Finecast makes a fair portion of people decide to not buy a miniature because they've been burned by buying bad casting and repeatadly getting bad replacements, seeing examples of it, or having smaller or narrower parts continually warping or breaking off the Finecast models in a way that doesn't happen with metal or plastic.

Yup... it's always been plastic, there was never a finecast version of that chariots as far as I know.

I think you guys may be mistaken over many of these. I have not seen one model that has been redone in plastic that was a direct re-do of a Finecast or metal model. The molding processes are extremely different.

GW? Customer support

You can remedy this by buying the new Tzeentch Chariot, and some minor conversion/greenstuff work.

Note: didn't read all comments. thought occured to use chariot. what i wonder is would anyone use the spare "giant flamers" and convert to be a modified LOC?
