I think I remember something in the 5th edition book (I started right at the end of 5th) about roads as terrain and rules for them, but I can't seem to find any in the 6th ed book. Are there any rules for using roads on your gameboard or any standards like how wide a road should be? I'm making my first game board and was going to have some on there.

Nope, nothing in 6th. In previous editions they let tanks move faster.

Road terrain can be tricky because of the wonky scale of vehicles and the size of the board you are playing on.
I suggest you make some preliminary roads out of just plain (free) cardboard to get an idea of what looks good with your existing terrain. A single lane road would be the width of a rhino or chimera but if you double that up for 2 lanes the roads really become too wide and cause terrain problems.

Do you have the other rules at hand on roads? and there use or gameplay effects?.....only thing i could suggest is mod the older rules to work in 40k, IIRC the road "rules" were X unit could move an extra x distance, it was open ground, and in sections you could turn the "craters" as temporay bunkers. ie in other words gain a cover save. will scrounge my Lirbrary of rulebooks and get back to on this one

I found the 5th ed rules. If they don't do anything in 6th then mine will just be decorative. Does anyone know the width of a Rhino off hand? (I don't own any vehicles yet, I do mostly nids.)

Without a rhino in front of me, it's about 3-4". According to the Third Book of Astronomicon, it is 4.5m wide.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Width of a rhino is 80mm.
Width of an old rhino is 76mm or so.

Thanks all. My tape measure just does inches so I'll either convert it or just make my rd's between 5-6inches wide I think.

As I said, about 3-4". Of course that was without an actual model in front of me. Nor a tape measure...
