Hi all.

So, i'm thinking of adding slaanesh furies, to my chaos daemons army. Hordes of quick, rending troops, will work wonders for me, giving me an alpha strike of disposable infantry. 60 models for just over 300 points, with rending, and hammer of wrath, and +3 to run, is just dandy in my books.

However, the models, are not only god awful and expencive, they don't fit well with my army theme.

My army, fluffy wise, is based around a keeper of secret's, who is the self professed "Lord of nightmares" As such, I decided what would be really fun, cost effective, and rather scary on the table, would be to use miniature spider's, as furies. Each would fit on their 25mm base without overstretching it.

My question is, would you, and do you think others, would be ok with this? Leaping spiders, fit my personal idea of a jump infantry, because they don't really "fly", rather they leap over things.

So, cool idea, or "Ogodnoiwouldntplayagainstthis."?

How about Daemonettes with wings?

if you could get the bits you could use scourge wings....bat or bird would be cool..or a third party bits store
they would look full on slaanesh and with the wings they wouldn't get mixed up with regular daemonettes

Also I used a third party model for my keeper of secrets...her name was Helinka I think? from Kabuki models..looked a whole lot better than GW's and hooked her up with Daemonette arms and a scorpion tail...she's on my gallery pictures *along with my big head*

I considered that route, but meh, not very nightmareish, and the wing's are a nightmare to find in bulk. 60 models, would end up costing me almost £150, and that's even if I could find wings for them.

Kind of settled on my spider idea, but I need to know people's opinions on that, to know if I should invest in them

Do you have a link to a picture of the spider models you'd be getting?

So long as the opponent is made aware of what they're representing at the start of the battle I can't see any problems.

I'll have to respectfully disagree on the nightmarish part at least with the bat wings

but fair enough...hmm well do you have a link for the spiders? would they be the goblin spiders from fantasy?

I'm not 100% on what spiders I would be using yet. GW doesn't supply spider's that would fit on a 25mm base as far as I know, and even then, I don't want to invest a silly amount in these. Going to be looking to other companies, or even looking to see if I can't find any good halloween style decorative spiders with enough detail (Rather than just a vague shape of a spider in horrible plastic like most halloween spiders)

They are not going to be super detailed most likely, as I intend to run them in such numbers that it just looks like a skittering horde of the things, in the same way that swarms of rat's look like for skaven.

But yeah, I don't play tournament's or anything, these are literally just for me playing with a few friends outside of a GW store.

Maybe raise them up a little, on branches, rocks, bodies etc, so they fit the rough TLoS profile of the actual furies. Will hopefully save a bit of hassle with some people.

Yeah, this is what I was gonna do, have a few in each unit that are at the correct height (So, raised up on rocks as you said) As kind of "Markers" of their true height.

Actually struggling to find anything I can use. So I'm gonna ask for some help.

I either need- (In bulk, seeing as how I need 60, can't buy them individually)

Spider miniatures
Ghost/wraith miniatures.
Anything else, you could consider being used as furies

I'd rather not convert daemonettes, or anything allready in my army, and i'm a bit terrible at conversions anyway

What i'd actually love, is something that has the floaty quality, of spore mines, from the tyranid's, almost like daemonic jellyfish-style creatures. I have the image of those things from the matrix made daemonic stuck in my head xD

I would have no issue playing against this. I have in the past played against a horde of Mento terminators and this is significantly better.

I do forsee tourney issues though.

Never been to a tourney in my life, and if I were to, I wouldn't take them

Also considered what could be the simplest conversion ever, which would be to have tyranid gargoyles...without anything but the bodies. No wing's, no head's, no arms, just sinister serpentine thing's that float about stabbing thing's to death with their spiked tails.

But maybe i'm just mad.

Looking at the Gargoyle sprues, I think that not using any limbs or heads would look a bit odd. However, if you used Chaos Spawn parts to replace the limbs, that might work.

Not sure whether your choice of words was coincidental, but Furies are Fast Attack rather than Troops. So, in a standard game, they're not scoring and 60 of them would use up all of your Fast Attack choices.

Oh, yeah, I meant infantry. Don't use any other fast attack anyway, so filling it with cheap, disposable hordes is fine in my book

And for the gargoyles, I might rework the head's a bit to make them more demonic and less tyranid'y, and greenstuff the arm and wing gaps so they are smooth and serpentine.

So, fill in those gaps where the wings and arms would go, and use the head's and other bit's to make a kind of horned beak at the front.

I have used gargoyle bodies with daemonette heads and claws. Easy to do. Relatively cheap. No one has complained.
