I am well aware that 6th favors the shoota boyz over the slugga choppa boyz. My question to the forum would be; How would one make slugga boys effective/how do you run them with 6th.
What I do is run 2 squads of 20, 2 with BS led by a nob with pk and boss pole
2 trukk squads 1 with BS and a nob with pk and boss pole

Is there a better way to run slugga boyz then I currently am?

I am looking to get more slugga boyz (up to 60) and was looking for some opinions on how most effectively run them.

I like the fluff of slugga boys even if I am at a disadvantage over shootas

Any questions please ask

I run 20 Slugga Boyz (including a PK Nob) in a Battlewagon (usually just a Reinforced Ram and 2 Big Shootas).

They roll up with my Deffkoptas/Warbikes and help to sweep what they assault.

You could put them in a BW with a PK Nob, and a Footboss w/ Bosspole and PK.

Never used a BW before but their armor seems legit

I keep them mobile in trukks or battlewagons and the shootas stay on foot. It's a pity the current rules force most ork players to rely on shooting for what in the fluff is a close combat army.

You should. I went to a mini-tourney using the tactic I described above and laughed when I found out that the group had succumbed to the "mech is dead, there's no use for melta weapons!" ideology. I cackled as nothing could harm my AV14 metal box.

They didn't shoot them in the rear or assault them then?

BW are only AV 10 on the back on in assault.

Wish my local would forget the melta weapons

The armies I played against were CSM (fluffy Word Bearers) and a DA/SW alliance.

Only the DA/SW deep struck (2 Flamer Dreadnoughts, which I blew up after they BBQ'd a few Boyz) and the CSM had 15 Berzerkers outflanking, but by the time they would've been able to assault, the Boyz had done their job.

Fair enough.

My BW's almost never get to use their AV 14.

I'm either against Eldar/DE (lances) or having pods come down behind me and then getting shot up.

Lot of pod-heavy SM lists around here

A BW, with a Warboss, and a big mob of choppa boyz is a lot of fun. Plus IIRC the open topped nature of the BW means you can assault out of it.

I play slugga boyz all the time, after trial and error i think the best way to run em is in groups of 10 with a Nob with PK in a Trukk, especially when objectives are on the table. I reserve the BW for my Boss and his cohort of Nobz

A 30 man unit of Boyz still breaks faces. Shootas are good but also 4 attacks on the charge is good. Plus now with a good charge roll and a pile in you can almost always get the whole mob swinging in combat

I was thinking (Mostly to see my opponents reaction) Bringing 4-6 squads of 30 boyz with a nob. I don't care how many guns you have that's alot of boyz.

I use 60+ choppa + slugga boys in trukks,

cheap fast assault vehicles, they get blown up easily, but if you do it right, they also take your boys acroos no mans land in one turn,

have a BW and something to distract the enemey from shooting the trukks and your set

For your list: I would put the big shoots on the nob. Since you only have 1 per squad anyway and he loses his extra attack from the unwieldy pk, you'll get an extra attack out of the boy in cc

I tell you what with the allies thing, bring some Chaos and pick up a Land Raider with a dirge caster. 6" no overwatch bubble. Maybe a bit pricy but...then slugga boys aren't going to even sweat the other guys snap shots. Maybe cheap Lord or Warpsmith, a small unit of Chaos Marines, Rhino and LR with dirges...and that could work nicely in support.
