So I'm looking to build a good starter ork army list for my girlfriend, she likes the gretchin models and bikes.... I really only ever play MEQ so I am really unfamilar with Ork lists, I've looked through the codex but still don't have a good idea.... What would be a decent 1000pt starter list preferably with lots of grots or gretchen whatever the lil goblin guys are and bikes.

not going to reprduce what you can work out but a good place to start,

X2 boxes of ork bikers
x2 boxes of grotz
and anything else you think is good.

i know this isn't very helpful but atleast it is a start. other dakkites might be able to help out more than i can, but you really have to provide a bit more information,

what other units does she like the look of? guns or choppas? flyers or looted tanks? the idea is write a list in a certain theme you know she'd dig/like.

a good place to start is looking at the army profile section of dakka,

ask questions in other ork related threads,

or the armylist section (here) there are many varied threads pertaining to your question.

by any rate this is as far as my advice can take you (within dakka dakka)

Well if she likes bikes you can always go with an all biker list. Their super fast and pretty awesome to see on the field. For this list you would need Wazdakka as your HQ. he allows bikers to be taken as troops choices. I would then take a few units of 5. You could then toss in a couple units of grots to hold objectives and you have yourself a list.

Hope that helps a bit. If she wants to continue growing the list in the future... You can always run Nobz on bikes. Their elites and they are extremely good. Very fast and dead choppy. Then as an add on to the theme, I would recommend a couple dakka jets for support.

Biker Warboss and Nob Bikers, Wazdakka and regular Ork Warbikes, a couple min squads of Grots for diving on objectives, and some Grot Artillery crews for your HS slots. It would be moderately competitive, and fit your theme of nothing but Grotz and Bikes.

Biker Warboss, Wazdakka , Nob Biker Death Star, is Forgeworld used in your local meta ? If so then you have lots of grot options (grot tanks ..grot megatank)

Personally I like Battlewagons filled with grotz to head out to objectives and then send the BW's off to go roll over a few tanks

if you want something thats point and click on bikes, use nob bikers. nob bikers are T5, 2 wound models, with a 4+ auto cover save/4+ armor save, that can move 12", turbo boost another 12" during shooting or shoot 3 S5 TL shots a peice. in a large maxed out group, they can absorb lots of fire due to wargear/upgrades such as: cybodies for 5+ invul save, PKs, painboy upgrade for a 5+ feel no pain save, waaagh banners for +1 WS, and more. they "can" be nasty to deal with.
