I'm going to be taking part in a 300pt kill team tournement. My gamesworkshop has a very competitive meta, so i want to compete with them. The armies i know will be there are another dark eldar player, a grey knight player using about 10 interceptors with psy-bolts, a hammer and incinerator. Horde Orks, a few marines of various allienments, one using a dread and finally a warrior spamming necron.
I play dark eldar, and while i want to win, i also want to have fun. I was thinking something along the lines of:
3 reavers w/ heat lance, clustercaltrops, areana champ w/ power lance. Heatlance gets shrouded, caltrops gets stealth. Both go around with 2+ cover.
4 incubi, one is klaviex with demi klaives, in a venom with extra cannon. Klaivex gets PE.
My problem is that i dont have enough bodies, the venom wont last a turn under psy-bolts. But its a really elite and cool list. What other options are there? I was also thinking of doing a haliequin list, just because that would be AWESOME, or maybe a scourge list. Trueborn in venom would be deadly too. List restrictions are no HQ or HS, 0-1 elite,0-1 fast attack and 0-2 troops. I get to give 3 USR's to different models. Also if you carn't help with my list (as in, dont know dark eldar) then i'd like to see your most competitive so i know what to expect.

I'm doing a 200pts Kill Team
6 SM Sternguard Vets with plasma cannon, 3 combi-plasmas and 2 combi-meltas and power axe with relentless for the plasma cannon, shrouded for one guy and FNP for the sergeant. The key is to be versatile and only combat if you're quick. Seeing as Dark Eldar craft have jink(?) I'd give them shrouded for a 3+ cover save. I don't play against Dark Eldar much but Incubi seem pretty cool to me. Give the Venom shrouded and let her rip.

I ran a 200 pt DE list:
5 x wyches (1 with razorflails), hekatrix plus power weapon plus fleshbane
Venom with 2 x splinter cannons
Beastmaster with venom blade and H&R
Clawed fiend with FNP (just for fun)
Hekatrix is good against MEQs, venom puts down weight of (poisoned) fire. Clawed fiend's just for fun.
Some flexibility but a wee bit fragile.

Ok so you're playing DE, go balls out, and this might sound crazy, but go helions they are pretty diverse and have a good chance at taking out any opponent, 2 poison shots, a HoW and then 2 I5 attacks all in one turn, for that point cost they're pretty awesome. If say run 3 reavers with a blaster and like 5 helions

Oh good. Your opponents will demonstrate all of the things that are wrong with kill team, and save you from playing it again. Two things you need to be able to handle:
1) AV 14. Orks will be bringing a battlewagon (dedicated transport for nobz) and at 300 points they can actually afford to support it properly. You technically have the melta bike, but that's a single gun and it has to get through the screening units to do anything. You need to add something to deal with AV 14 at range, and you need several copies of it since your paper-thin model carrying it has no meatshield squad to protect it.
2) Flyers, especially if the new Tau codex is legal. IG, Necrons, and Tau can bring flyers in kill team, and at 300 points they will be well supported. If you don't bring any effective AA all you can do is sit and watch as your opponent wipes out your army with units you can't touch. Oh yeah, and the flyer will have the shrouded rule just to make it even harder to kill.
3) Hordes. 300 points is 50 boyz, or 10 lootaz and 25 boyz. This list might not be able to kill flyers or AV 14, but it can control the board and prevent you from winning before the game ends (and probably kill all of your infantry for the win).
Now, you're probably making a list and realizing that this is an impossible set of demands, that if you counter one threat you can't counter the others effectively. Congratulations, now you know why kill team sucks. Pick your counters and hope the rock/paper/scissors match ends in your favor.

Kill Team also favors cheap monstrous creatures. Looking at you, Wraithlord.
I suggest doing the best you can to counter heavy infantry lists. So get as many poison shots as you can (You're DE after all). If you can get at least two reliable anti-tank weapons then you'll have a shot at taking out a wagon if it pushes too far forward.
But Peregrine is right. Kill team favors some armies WAY more than others.

No heavy support in kill team.
Of course Tyranids can bring some fun things. For example, since the point limit is no longer 200 points you can afford to bring a troops Tervigon, so your nice horde will be backed up by a FNP or shrouded MC that spawns even more hordes. Fortunately DE and their mass poison have a lot less to fear from MCs than most armies, but if you aren't DE you're not going to have much fun with that list either.

I dont know all of the Kill Team rules or what not, so excuse me if this isn't legal. But how about something like this:
x4 trueborn, x2 Darklance, Plasma Grenades- 102
Give them Tank Hunters
I had 4 pts left so I threw the Plasma on them. Tank Hunters will help you bust any tank, including the BWs you might be seeing.
Question: Do the USRs confer to the squad if they normally would, or just to the single model? In any sense, I still think Tank Hunters would be good for atleast one member of the squad.
x5 Warriors, Blaster, Raider w/ Desinigrator- 120
Give the Raider Shrouding.
All around unit that can kill heavy Infantry or a tank if need be. Shrouding helps with the Raider Surviving a a natural 3+ cover save when jinking.
x3 Reavers, Heatlance- 78
Give them Stealth
Another all around unit tha can hurt anything and do a decent amount of attacks when Bladevaning. If Stealth doesn't confer to the squad, i would still probably keep it on 1 guy just to harass.
So list looks like this:
x4 Trueborn, x2 Darlances, Plasma Nades Tank Hunters- 102
x5 Warriors, Blaster, Raider w/ Dessie, Stealth- 120
x3 RJBs, Heatlance, Stealth- 78

better to drop the incubi, add 3 trueborn with in the same venom with night shield. Take 2 splinter cannons on the trueborn. Then try and go for 6 Reavers with clusercaltrops. 1 cluster gets stealth, the other gets shrowded. Maybe give one of the trueborn with the cannon PE or Rending

If I read the rules right, you cannot give a unit a USR, you give it to an individual model. That being said, your list looks pretty solid.

kill teams usually have each model being an individual unit. So rules do not transfer to the rest of the unit.
