Would an EDH deck with the majority of the creatures being shadow born apostles, and some BIG demons be a good plan? The deck is just an idea, but would be fun

Blightsteel isn't that scary anyways. No evasion, no trample and when it dies it is pretty hard to get back. Cheating it into play is hard too.

If you get to swing with blightsteel the game is over anyways. It's a mercy kill at that point.

Most issues with infect/wither/poison is that creatures who have it are kinda bad.

Personally I would always have atleast 1 way to get poison because sometimes just beating face isn't possible.

Yes, you are right. How did I miss that?

I was wondering what will happen if I'm using card like colfenor's plans and the enchanment get removed or changes owner can the exiled cards still be played assuming I regain control of the enchanment?

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

I think, and I may be wrong, that the other player now gets to cast the cards exiled. If you look at it, it says "You may cast spells exiled with Colfenor's Plans", but doesn't have a text saying anything about it only being those exiled with the first casting of it.

Though if you lost one Colfenor's Plans, and played a second one, you couldn't play the cards exiled with the first copy if you have the second copy.

So I have a question for everyone.

A guy in my group has an Arcum Dagson EDH deck that locks everyone down turn 5 (Mycosynth Lattice + Darksteel Forge + Nyrvineyll's Disk) and a Jhoira EDH deck that he has to have dropped a good $200 into, complete with Sensei's Divining Top and everything.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, as the guy who runs Oloro has a good seven $50 cards in his deck, The Kaalia gal has every expensive demon/angel/dragon, what have you. I have the two lowest costing decks with my Vorel the Hall Clade and Dralnu decks, and I have won two of the tournies I have entered (Yay for not being an "Immediate" threat, though no one likes being hit by a 512/516 Elusive Krasis)

But the problem is, the guy with Jhoira and Arcum decks is just an absolute DONKEY CAVE. You know the type; Sits on his phone when it's not his turn, yells at people for taking too long, is absolutely petty as a player (The type of guy who if you kill one of his combo peices, you are on his gak list for the rest of the game). Typically, the tournies I've seen him in go like this:

Game One:
"Ok guys, everything on the field that isn't mine gets destroyed, Mindslavered, Mindslavered, I win!"
Game Two:
"Ok guys, everything on the field that isn't mine gets destroyed, Mindslavered, Mindslavered, I win!"
Game Three:
"WHY THE FECK IS EVERYONE PICKING ON ME?!?!"

The guy thinks he's absolute hot gak, too; we had a "French Commander League" that he won handily, and acted like he was the coolest cat in town.

I'm getting sick of this guys smug face, and want to build a deck to wipe off his smirk. The question comes down to whom I make:

Zur or Mishra?

Zur would be your typical Zur deck, with Pillory of the Sleepless, Oblivion Ring, and Detention Sphere for when he plays Arcum and/or Jhoira (Both decks are heavily reliant on their commanders), along with just being a boss commander in the first place with answers to everything else. I think just playing Zur would make me a massive target, however, and am worried about the blantant "You an a-hole, I an a-hole" Zur would bring to the group. Having said that, he would do the job efficiently.

Mishra would be the ultimate humiliation factor. It's common knowledge that Mishra "Sucks", but due to some stack manipulation with his ability and something like Possibility Storm, Cephalid Shrine, Nether Void, and Blood Funnel, you can organize the stack to look like this:

> Counter target spell
> Mishra Trigger
> Artifact spell

The artifact is countered, sending it to the graveyard. Mishra's ability then procs, since it's casting a spell instead of entering the battlefield, and finds a "Copy" of that card in the graveyard, putting it into play.

So, how do we abuse that?

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=380251

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=370472

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=45842

By making an EDH Storm/Affinty deck that can QUICKLY chew through the library to cast game ending storm cards, that is almost completely uncounterable.

I couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he gets beaten by Mishra, of all commanders. However, it is rather fragile, though Affinity would still allow me to keep my board relatively full.

What say you guys?

I 'd go with Mishra. Storm is a bear to counter, and chewing through your own library is always fun. Not to mention beating him with an underrated commander would be much more humiliating.

I'm thinking Mishra as well; using Mana Severence I can keep the Affinity Train going, and if I don't have any of the Storm cards in hand Goblin Charbelcher will stack it well for me.

My only real concern is, do I stack it with the B/U part of Esper, having to then pay colored mana, or just go full Affinity?

What do you gain by going with B/U? Of course you're already in those colors with your commander. If you do, Vedalken Archmage is a beast when you start laying down artifacts. No telling how many times a buddy of mine drew his deck down to one or two cards and stormed us to death back in high school. Of course, he would get 2-3 out at a time(back before commander as it's known today), but the principal remains the same. Chew through the deck.

They do sealed, which is six boosters and make your deck from it, if that's what you're referring to.

I still have a ton of the star wars and lotr ccg/tcg game cards, but never learned how to play it. Luckily I had a local game store that still had booster boxes and starter decks for it at the time. But that was a long time ago.... and the store moved to a different town, then the owner passed away due to cancer, who was a great guy, (he occasionally gave me some free stuff like cards, etc because he knew meas a regular customer), then the store just dwindled under the ownership and management of the guy's son(s), and it got bought out. :(

But otherwise, if there was a way of learning how to play, in an easier way, that would be awesome to learn.

Could somebody tell me if exchanging 4 islands for 4 guildgates was a good decision, or a bad one, here is the deck, go to it with the link if you would like to see it.
It originally had 12 islands, but I though it might work a bit faster, etc, if maybe it had some more dual lands, such as guildgates, so i took 4 islands out of the 12, but I just wanna know if that was a good decision, or not..... ( please like and comment also!)
Also, this deck, (as you can see in the comments below the decklist, and description), has been performing VERY well, getting 2nd at a TCG event, and 4th at an FNM, although I didnt get first, the deck still performs very well.

My friend play abit similiar izzet deck and dual lands are more likely to mess his plan instead making it faster/better. He didn't even run 4.

Only reason I would play a dual land in a deck like that is because it's the first turn.

If you drop a dual on turn 2 means you are not doing anything until turn 3 and dual dropped on turn 3 is little late.

What illuknisaa said. I noticed you already had the shocklands in there- that's good. If you're still having mana problems you might look into one or two additional guild gates. I definately would not go for the full four. Maybe two islands, a mountain, and a guildgate.

Also look around at the mana bases of other Izzet decks to see how they're doing it. Keep in mind that they may be heavier into a different color than you though.

I would definately throw that Door of Destiny in there. Maybe try to find a Coat of Arms as well, but I'm not sure how expensive that is anymore. I would think goblins would be a little difficult to play in EDH. The "wreck them fast" theme becomes hard to do against 2-4 opponents.

I'm not sure about coat of arms because it would also help my opponents and losing a goblin would also reduce stats of other goblin. With Door I can keep recurring some cheap goblin (like goblin gaveleer, or legion loyalist).

I'd like some day have gaveleer with fireshrieker and inquisitor's flail. A measly 20 dmg with trample.

- Be in a Commander Tourney.
- Vorel of the Hall Clade is your commander.
- Savage Summoning + Labratory Maniac are in your hand, Fathom Mage has 48 counters on her.
- Have twenty six cards in the library
- Double the counters on Fathom Mage, then cast SS + LM combo.
- Realize you just ordered the stack wrong and decked yourself.
- Hang your head in shame......

On the other hand, totally pimp smacked someone with a 160/160 Vastwood Hydra the turn before.

Vorel get's pretty ridiculous when you have Kiora's Follower and Prophet of Kruphix out. People can't really remove any of your pieces without leaving a huge creature that just became rather irate with them.

Looks pretty good, but I'd replace the Cackler with something else- either a utility creature or something like a targeted discard spell maybe. *cough*thoughtseize/duress*cough* He's a very aggressive creature- not something you'd want in a control deck.

young pyromancer? I was thinking of maybe also thinking of just tossing in the searing bloods like howard a treesong said, since after all, it is a control deck, and it would be nice to have another kill spell in the deck, which would be easy to use, and possibly get rakdos lord of riots out during my 2nd main phase after i swnig in for an attack

I *thought* about thoughtseizes, (lol) but Im not sure i really want to spend that much on a playset of 4 of them, unles i somehow pull them out of some packs, which would be awesome, but idk, and there $25 each at the moment, and I dont think my wallet really wants to get the crap beat out of it..... but I will most likely save up for them if i really know i need them.
