Subject: Tau Crisis configurations and their new 6th ed. names
Ill keep this short and sweet. The new Tau Codex is out and with all the changes to the amount of weapons a suit can take, war gear and changes in weapon stats the optimal suit load outs are inevitably going to change.
From your experience so far or just straight out math/theory hammering what does Dakka think will be the optimal, interesting or just useful suit configurations for this 6th edition codex?
If you can think of any awesome new names all the better!
So far, im thinking of running:
3x Crisis with TL Plasma Rifle, Fusion blaster for some crazy AP1/2 goodness. 1 TL shot from 24 inches, 2 from 18 (with 1 being TL), 3 shots from 12 (with 2 being TL) per suit. Mostly designed to take out TEQ/MEQ with the capabilities to melt a tank or 2. Will probably run with 2 shield drones as for optimal output the unit will have to get within 12 of the enemy. Thinking of calling it the Apollo or Icarus configuration (although they are open to debate)
What will you be running on your suits/commanders?

Normal suit "bunch of stuff" : Fusion, Plasma and a Missile Pod, now thats a bunch of guns...one of them must hit sometime right?
Haha i like the name. Problem is i think the multi tracker only lets you fire 2 weapons, having 3 of a different type thats not twin linked would mean you waste a weapon per turn? But i might be wrong, Dont have to Codex in front of me (Think that might make my forum trolling too obvious at work )

Hmmm, yeah you might be right, but it gives you the option to choose, as the missile have 32" range, and when you reach within the range of the plasma and the fusion you can swap over to them for the higher armor kill. but in that case a TL Missile Pod + Plasma would rather be my choice over that one.

A Twin-Flamer with Shield would prolly be called "Fire-Shield"
And if you are allowed to take 2x TL Missile pods on a commander ( doesnt say you cant take the same weapon for all the slots ) you could call it a "Swarm Fire"

- Non-personal names (don't use mythical names from Earths history)
- Two-word names (like Fireknife, Sunfury, Deathrain...and so on)
Combinations of Lance, Cloud, Sky, Shadow, Dark, Moon, Searing, Storm and other words leaves plenty of possibilities.
....
Fair enough. For the configuration my my first post how about "Searingforge". Btw Swarmfire is awesome
What about the current Helios config, that doesn't match the naming rules?

How about this for a "Inferno-Shield" Commander: Flamer+TL Flamer+Shield for a Commander. His bodyguards can be "Fire-Shields". Would certainly be an answer to Ork and Nid hordes.

All you need is Commander: with Fist and the thrusters and shield, and then you go out of your way to make him assault and challange the enemy warlord.
Otherwise: "Wolfenstein"
Commander with Dual TL Burster cannons
( Reference, its not a wolfenstein 3d boss without a lot of miniguns )

Subject: Tau Crisis configurations and their new 6th ed. names
There is a system for naming things, lemme find it....
Here I found it:
Spoiler:
How do you name a configuration?
The convention used most often to name a Crisis Suit configuration is to examine the weapons used and to replace the weapons' names with a word or syllable. (There are some exceptions to this, however, as will be seen later.) For example, a Suit equipped with a Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle and Multi-Tracker is called a Fireknife ("Fire" for the Missile Pod and "knife" for the Plasma Rifle). Support Systems are usually ignored when naming configurations.
What words signify what weapons?
Airbursting Fragmentaion Projector - Hail/Thunder
Burst Cannon - Storm
Cyclic Ion Blaster - Ion
Flamer - Soul
Fusion Blaster - Forge
Missile Pod - Fire
Plasma Rifle - Knife/Blade
Twin-Linked Burst Cannon -Cloudburst/Tempest
Twin-Linked Flamer - Heatwave
Twin-Linked Fusion Blaster - Sunforge Twin-Linked Missile Pod - Deathrain Twin-Linked Plasma Rifle - Burning Eye
Often, when using words with several syllables in conjunction with another, only one syllable is taken from the longer word. For example, a Suit with a Burst Cannon and a Twin-Linked Plasma Rifle would be a Stormeye.
In addition to the name determined by the weapons, there is sometimes a number that will follow the configuration, for example Deathrain-4. Whenever a number follows the name, it indicates the Ballistic Skill of the Suit. This is often a sign that a Targeting Array has been taken as a Support System. Using our example of Deathrain-4 would be an elite Crisis Suit with a Twin-Linked Missile Pod and a Targeting Array. Note: If no number is indicated, it is assumed that the Suit's Ballistic Skill has not been modified.
