Okay, firstly I'm a bit miffed that only XV8 suits can get Signature systems, but that's not really all that important - it allows your HQ to be a force multiplier, while still being a shooty threat in his own right. I'm down with that.

So, from the way things look, Hard Points, as they were, are a non-existant entity. Now, it seems that you can take a certain amount of equipment from certain wargear lists, that are unlocked in the unit entry. (This has the added effect of making most entries very uncluttered, which is nice until you realise everythings all over the place.)

Certain units, Crisis Bodyguards, Shas'vre XV8s and Commanders are all allowed to take "Signature" systems.

In the case of XV8's, this seems to be limited by the number of items they can take from any of the wargear slots; they only have 3.

Bodyguards and Commanders seem more unclear. While it is understood that any signature system can only be taken once, it doesn't expressly limit how many signature systems you take.

Potentially, I can have a commander with every signature system, and still 4 weapons or supports on top of that.

Is this the case, or have I missed a clauseword somewhere?

I have to agree with you. Under the commander the bullets reads "May take items from the Signature Systems list." Scrolling up to Sig Sys the only limitation is "Only one of each Signature System may be taken per army."

From how it reads you could indeed stack a commander up with Signature Systems.

The limit would be 8, that is all the common Signature systems. Remember, only one of each per detachment.

Okay, but my point is still correct. I can have a ridiculous amount of force multipliers

Eh...

a MSSS, XV8-02 and a C&CN isn't too expensive.

I view it as the difference between hardwired and external systems, even though that distinction is no longer with us. Normal XV8 shas'vres need to mount the things externally, while the higher ranked suits have the things hardwired in.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
