so had this idea about stealing the enemy quad gun to shoot at the enemy flyers when they come in. Is there any restriction on using a qun emplacement, even if there is an enemy model in base contact with it?

Here is the scenario i was thinking:

The enemy army has purchased a quad-gun ADL. my ravenwing get the first turn so my bikes will just close in on the enemy and on turn two dart forward to be in B2B with the enemy quad-gun, keeping 1" away from the lone enemy model that is in B2B with the gun (obviously this will not work if the enemy is smart and deploys models all around the gun). Then on the enemy turn 2 a flyer comes from reserves, so can my bike shoot the gun as normal? At this point my enemy could not have shot or assaulted the bike yet.

There honestly is nothing that prevents exactly that. You can even have the two units take turns shooting at each other in their respective shooting phases...

There are three things you must never do: Never turn down free booze. Never turn down free food. And never turn down free booze.

It is insanely hard to take the enemies Quad gun unless your enemy doesn't care that bikes are speeding straight toward his face.

well there is literally nothing he can do to prepare for the bikes to do this as i could start 24" away and turbo boost in to B2B with the gun if he didn't bubblewrap it with his own models.

It'd be tough to pull off versus a GK player with Servo Skulls properly deployed, or versus a player that understands how the set up in defense of their Quad gun. However, versus a player that makes the mistake of leaving their Quad unguarded on one or more sides, they seriously deserve the complication of "sharing" their Quad with their enemy.

Its a perfectly legitimate strategy, in a tournament a fortnight ago i shot down two night scythes with his quad gun. I still think that your opponent has to have done something wrong as opposed to you doing something right to get his gun though

A few models killed in the shooting phases can easily open the hole needed to access the enemy Quad gun.. There are numerous times my Nids have been in BTB with the gun unopposed.... pity we can use it.

My favorite trick is to blast the enemies quad gun unit so they guys holding it die, and then to have either a drop pod unit run to base contact or use tau jetpacks to take the gun, then shoot their fliers as they come in. Hilarious.

Of course, that is really not all that eazy do to, and, if you are like me, have two different units on the quad gun so this specific trick can not happen all that often without some amazing luck.

Back to the original question about using an enemy quad gun....

Assuming you can pull off the positioning, remember that if the Interceptor rule is/has been used, the gun may not fire in the following (player) turn.

For example, if your opponent Intercepts a unit of Turn 1 deep striking terminators, you could fire the gun in your Shooting phase of T1, but neither of you can fire it in his T1 - you can't Intercept any of his Reserves, and he can't fire it in his Shooting phase either.

Actually newscasters from across the USA come to chicago to learn how to speak.

The midwest has the cleanest dialect in the U.S.

P.S. I guess you have never heard of a typo either
