so according to the FAQ, you can use FnP against wounds suffered through Perils of the Warp (pg 4 BRB FAQ) . in that case i would also use FnP against wounds suffered through a nova reactor "blowup". is there any rule which prevents me from doing this?

to clarifiy, both rules state that you are not allowed to make saves of any kind.

FnP isn't a save (at least in the tradtional sense) so I would treat a Nova Reactor backfire exactly as Perils when it comes to a FnP roll until when/if GW FAQs it one way or the other.

Is the nova reactor's wound instant death?
Does the wording of the FNP call it a save?

These two questions and a quick glance over FNP in the USRs will give you the answer.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

FNP is not a save and work theoretically work. The question is how the Nova reactor's rule is worded.

Does the Nova reactor's rule say you can not take a FNP against it?

Feel no pain allows you to make a dice roll against an unsaved wound (pg 35 RB), so in this situation where you have an automatic 'unsaved' wound then having a stim injector seems like its worth the points (could explain the higher points cost).

From the FAQ
Q:Can the Feel No Pain special rule be used to resist a Wound
suffered from the Perils of the Warp? (p35)
A: Yes

Wording for PoW
The Psyker immediately suffers 1 wound with no saves of any kind allowed.

You'll note that the wording is identical. The Riptide FNP works against Nova wounds.

As said, FNP in this edition isn't a save, so you may take it so long as the attack doesn't do instant death.

Yes, you can take FnP against the Nova Reactor.

Its a 35 point upgrade to get FNP on the Riptide.

It works RAW and the upgrade is expensive enough points-wise to be justified.

So I don't even understand why the question is being asked, frankly.

People think that anything negating a wound must be some kind of save.

I get it, but the mere fact that you can take a FNP roll after failing a save tells you that it is not a save, since you're only allowed a single saving throw against any given wound.

Huh, and here i thought it was the fact that FNP specifically says it is not a save...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
