Hey all.
I'm considering starting a new army. And I love flamers. Can anyone advise me on an army that can pack in a ton of flamers, and use them well? Preferably one that won't set me back a ton of money.
I'd especially love a few different options, as while I know there is usually one "best" way to do thing's, I do like having that choice
It doesn't have to be tournament standard. Just, flamers, and fun, and won't die to a light breeze.

Well, Sisters of Battle are all about the burning, but are not cheep to get.
So I'm going to recommend C:SM. We have Vulcan, who TLs them all (as well as melta/hammers) and you can cram a surprisingly large amount of fire in an effective list.

If you are going for fluff and maximum Flamers fielded, then SoB are the ticket. They can field more Flamers point for point than anyone, aside from possibly IG. But they are as mentioned nowhere near being cheap.
Pretty much any variety of SM will still get you many Flamers if that's all you want. You may be able to get a slightly higher than normal amount of Flamers in SW over SM. BA should also be able to do Flamer spam well.

Not quite competitive, but 1850 sisters of battle.
Celestine
7 seraphims
2 dominions squads in immolators
3 celestian squads in immolators
3 sister squads
2 exorcists
ret squad with heavy bolters
the army is fairly dangerous and boasts:
1 heavy flamer
5 twin linked heavy flamers
16 flamers
3 combi flamers
4 hand flamers
You have no reliably way of dealing with AV14 or flyers, but you should dominate any infantry list you come across.

BA have a bunch of really mean flamer units you can bring:
A 5 man RAS with a flamer, riding a fast, TLHF Razorback is only 125 points.
You can also put a RAS into a Redeemer for a 35 point discount off of the already cheapest LR in the game.
BA also get S6 AP3 flamers on their Baal preds, which have scout so you can really alpha strike MEQ on T1.
They can also take Honor Guard with a flame thrower on 4 of the 5 models, and/or a melta or plasma gun in the other hand. OR you can give them all 2x hand flamers for 8 S3 template shots per turn (I'd drop pod them for uber alpha strike)

This.
As stated, one troop choice (Vet squad w/ Chimera) gives you 3 flamers and 2 heavy flamers for 140 points.
Then you get into HHs and Sentinels with heavy flamers.
Did I mention every IG tank can take a heavy flamer?
But if you aren't interested in an IG list, Vulkan is the way to go.

Well, I think SoB are the best choise, but they are expensive as feth. Metal model, 14 euro for 3 SoB.
SW... well, 10 men GH pack can carry 2 free flamers, so... yeah.
SM have Vulkan He'Stan who makes all the flamers and heavy flamers (and Melta) twin linked... so yeah.
CSM also can bring a lot of flamers.
BA, IG.
Plenty armies can carry many flamers. Your choise, but you play Chaos Deamons so I'd say go with the CSM

Orks can pack 45 Flamers into an army with burna boys.
CSM can go flamer crazy with twin flamers in each CSM squad, 4 flamers in each elite chosen squad, two flamers in HQ (Burning brand and Lucius). Three flamers in each squad in FA (raptors) or three heldrakes. And in HS you can get flamers on defilers.

For C:SM...
HQs are Vulcan, Pyromancy librarian, or Cassius (gota love master crafted combi-flamers with hellfire rounds).
Elite slots are packed full of burning.
Sternguard with 2xHF and up to 8 combi flamers a squad.
Tac terminators can get one for dirt.
TLHF/DCCW(HW) dreads
2xHF ironclads
Troop pick you have to settle for a flamer/combiflamer combat squad moving up in a TLHF razorback
FA is another slot full of promethium.
Assault squad can take 1/2
Bike squads can have 2 +combi
Land speeder can run double HFs, and squadron up to 3
HS is a little light. Just need to settle on LRRs

How well do they do with them though? Honest question, I've not seen it done.
What I do know is that I can pack a good deal of flame weapons into a C: SM army and not feel that I'm packing them in just for the sake of fielding them. I can make a viable army that showcases and utilizes them in an effective manner. Salamander/Vulcan lists pop up all the time over in the list section of the forums, but (with the exception of SoB) you never really see flame based lists for other armies.

For a while I entertained the idea of running this army. HQ 1x Big Mek w/ Burna, 'eavy armor, KFF, grot oiler. Elite 10x Burnas, 1x Mek w/ Grot Oiler 10x Burnas, 1x Mek w/ Grot Oiler 10x Burnas, 1x Mek w/ Grot Oiler HS 3x Battlewagon w/Three rokkit launchers, extra armor, deffrolla, rpj (Burnas ride in those) FA 3x Skorcha Wartrakks 3x Skorcha Wartrakks 1x Burna Bommer w/ 6 missiles Troops 1x Deffdread w/ tl skorcha 20x Boyz w/ shootas, two big shootas 20x Boyz w/ shootas, two big shootas 20x Boyz w/ shootas, two big shootas (Roughly) 2000 points, more than 90 bodies on the table and lots of flamers and templates. Frankly, the list doesn't sound too effective, but I felt like going for an "arsonist" theme and wanted to squeeze in certain less than competitive units (such as the flier or the deffdread) just for kicks. Finally, I never got to try it out. Had the battlewagons, had the boyz, the dread, the bommer, had enough burna bits lying around to make a sizeable part of the burnaboys required but finally it was the trakks what stopped me. With rumors of a new warbuggy kit floating around, I decided not to convert anything until I saw the new minis. Months went by, the rumored new buggies never showed up and the idea died on me.

Poorly. No flamer-based army is going to be terribly successful nowadays.
The only way to make flamers work is on certain fast units, like sternguard, stormtroopers, hellhounds, interceptors, and the like.

Having a lot of flamers is all fine and dandy, but if you can't deliver them, then they serve no purpose.
There's in my opinion only two real list where flamers really shine.
Space marine: Vulkan.
He will make them all twin linked, thus re-rolling wounds. He can deep strike them in place with drop pods and marines are fairly resilient to return fire with their T4 and 3+ save.
Sisters of battle.
Immolators are twin-linked. Dominions and Seraphims are "twin-linked" with their acts of faiths and share this with Celestine. You can deep strike your seraphims or just move them 12 inches every turns. Dominions can outflank or scout ahead.
While guards can field a lot of flamers, moving that blob ahead is going to be a nightmare and you will likely get hit by flamers yourself before you bring yours to bear. Hellhounds are nice, but you're giving up on some Vendettas for those.
The first question you have to ask yourself before going for lots of flamers is what style of army you want to play? If you're sitting back and shooting, those flamers are a waste of points. If you're moving up to your opponent, then go ahead and pick them up.

They're not the usual army, but eldar can field surprisingly many flamers... It's just a really awkward build
You can put a seer council on bikes and give them all destructor, which is a psychic flamer. It's 550 a unit (not including the farseer), with 10 heavy flamers. Include 2 of these and you've got 2 units of 10 heavy flamers each on jetbikes, making them extremely fast. This gives them an amazing positioning advantage for roasting an entire unit with perfectly placed templates.
For troops you simply take 6 units of storm guardians, which can have 2 flamers. They're only 92 points as well.
If you want more, fire dragon exarch can take a heavy flamer for some reason.
It's about 1850 points for 20 heavy flamers and 12 normal flamers. It's a horrible build, but there's quite a lot of flamers.

Without going into overkill mode, Eldar's with destructor warlocks are surprisingly effective.
With jetbikes and fortune rerolls they can easily live long enough to go where you need them to be. Two or three or those will be more than enough to clear out almost any infantry squads out there since they can pretty much position themselves in the best possible spot.
