Would any of you have a major issue at a GT if someone were to run XV-08's (Crisis Suits) as (Broadside) XV-88's? Assuming, of course, that they were converted with extra armor plating and had the appropriate weapons; and that you knew what they were at the start of the match and there were NO normal Crisis suits in the opponents army to confuse them with?
Are the 2 suits that much different? The primary difference (as I see it) is the 2+ versus the 3+, and to use a common example, normal power armor is noticeably different from Terminator armor.
Opinions? Comments? Insults?

1.) Broadsides are larger/bulkier now.
2.) Broadsides now use 60mm bases, Crisis Suits 40mm.
So on tournament level this might cause problems.

Considering that the old Broadsides (that are still perfectly legal) were based on Crisis suits, I can't see how this could be a problem if the models are armed properly. Now, if you wan't to be nice, put them on 60mm bases though, not that this is strictly necessary.
New Broadsides however look pretty amazing, while Crisis suits look like crap, so that is the reason I'd recommend not doing it.

I'd be more inclined to convert the new broadside into a suit with iridium armour
But no, provided the thing is armed correctly, who is to say when it was converted

Yeah, I was thinking doing that. It needs a jet pack though.

Precisely, the general rule is you get to use it the way it was made originally, and considering that broadsides have been tiny forever, it should be ok. I just recently took one of my older converted broadsides and reconverted again using some nifty gun bits i got from paulsongames. So now it looks a lot less crappy, and almost cool now!

The old model rule wouldnt apply for missile sides though, since the "orignal package" didnt have that option except for the SMS. Personally i dont give a crap since theyre not THAT much bigger save for the base (easily fixed) but especially at a tourny youre going to find a lot of TFG trying to get a free win by pointing out your army is illegal.
If you are taking the railguns, nobody can say anything as it is original package. They can gripe all they want but its legal unless the tourny specifically state they must be current models. If you take HYMs, expect people to be TFG and get you DQ'd if the TO isnt the coolest guy/gal in the world.
At the least rebase them if youre taking HYMs.

Resv's Helldiver suits have awesome jets that could easily be added.

All I did was remove the rail gun and add missile pods to each shoulder. I can't honestly see anyone having a problem with this.
I have almost a dozen old broadsides and refuse to replace them, although the new model is pretty damn sweet.
