Hello fellow forum go'ers, I was wondering is anyone has ever tried something like that. I was considering using the head and staff from the "Malagor the dark omen" and using him for a Chaos Space Marine Dark Apostle. The face and staff just look silly in the Dark Apostle set in my opinion.

Yes, of course it's fine. You could probably transplant an entire WHFB model to 40K simply by changing the square base to a round one. Chaos Daemons share models between WHFB and 40K.

GW themselves have featured an army in WD February 2013 that used WHFB Chaos Warrior fur cloaks for the Sternguard in a custom Space Marine army.

Alright thanks RayND, I just hate the way the dark apostle looks, the beastmen parts would make him look like much more of a sorcerer in my opinion.

If you like the look of it, rock on! I've used fantasy parts in 40k to (in my opinion) great effect.

Behold:

I'm not familiar with the Dark Apostle, but I think the fig you showed us could donate some pretty sweet parts to a 40k sorcerer.

Welcome to the Freakshow!

Jimsolo, those Salamanders look awesome!

I got a picture of a Dark Apostle as well.

If you like it then do it. But i fear that the head might look a little bit to large and the horns are probably going to collide with his arms and backpack.

And personally i think that the staff doesn't fit him that well. I agree that the power maul of the original model looks rather strange. But i'd probably go with a more maul like replacement like the one from the chaos terminators or the new dark angels stuff.

I use Fantasy models as the basis for my Imperial Guard, using the Bretonian Men at Arms and Peasant Archers.

I currently have over 100 converted and freshly stripped and re-primed awaiting paint...

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

I just recently made a "counts as" Duke Sliscus for my Dark Eldar using the Dark Elf Sorceress - I just swapped in some 40k weapons:

I also don't like the standard Dark Apostle model. I made one by taking the Chosen with the maul from the Dark Vengeance set, swapping the head of the weapon with a chaos icon and giving him a book:

Bltdoomhammer, I plan on adjusting the backpack. After looking at it, it seems like it is at an odd angle.
Commissarbob, those IG look really cool.
Fenshysa, I really like that converted Dark Apostle.

Yeah, Bretonnian bodies and heads make for great Trenchers, even if you don't have gas masks on them. You need to do some clipping off of the arms on the Bretonnian torso's in most cases, but that's the only hassle. I myself am thinking of using Skinks or Saurus warriors as "counts as" for Kroot. Maybe Skinks as hounds, idk. Lizardmen have nicer models than Kroot, personal preference. I've seen CSM armies use WFB Chaos stuff, like icons and even cannons or what not (not a chaos player, can't say for sure) in their 40k lists as "count as" stuff.

I made some Tau auxiliaries ("counts as" Pathfinders) that used the Skink and Saurus models, they turn out nice:

Those Pathfinders look really cool!
