This game sold well for a few weeks then disappeared just as fast.
Not sure of the reasons, but very few games aside from "the big three" make it around here for long.
My group plays some obscure stuff, but we have to keep a focus on it.

Just seem like there no interest for it in the states. Id be happy to find a couple of players in my area to at least get in some games.

Pretty much. I have a fully magnetized PHR army collecting dust. Woot.
Great purchase, he said.

There are 4 of us who play at my store, playing every week now. There are 4 others at a store an hour away from us. We're doing an 8-man tourney at their store next Saturday (May 11th).
I think within a year there will be at least 1-2 tournies for it at major events. Hawk Wargames flew over for TempleCon, and are hitting one other convention in the states this year (GenCon maybe?). I expect next year there will be a tourney rather than just showing off the game.
The card city pack has taken us from struggling to play the game to playing every week. It's just simply amazing, and sooooooo cheap. If you haven't gotten it and need terrain, it's a fantastic investment.
The tourney on May 11th is at Huzzah Hobbies in Virginia, by the way (I live in Maryland) if anyone is local and wants to see the game in-action!

Part of the reason is likely slow adoption. The game is EXPENSIVE. It's competition (Spartan Games) are like a quarter of the price.
That's... quite the hard sell.

Agreed as well. I remember being relatively interested in the game, then I saw the prices - for 10mm miniatures?! No way!

DZC players are definitely around. It seems like a lot of folks have armies and want to play, but lack player groups to do so. I just moved to a new location and ran into an example of this. I found a new DZC player in the area who was itching for a chance to play almost right off the bat. Original barriers to it were terrain (now fixed by ultra cheap easy to build card terrain) and price (which has not changed). That said I came to this game from 40k and the difference in price was a relief. A usable unit of tanks for $12 from the Warstore? Coming in at easily over 100 points? Yes please! Automatically Appended Next Post: Another thing to note that may be helpful is how easy it is to get other players into the game once you have someone willing to play regularly and a bit of terrain. The game, with Hawk's card or printout buildings and some painted models, looks absolutely brilliant. It attracts attention from across a game shop like nothing I have seen before.

I don't see the minis being that expensive. I paid $84 for my starter army offline and didn't think that was to bad considering I seen the advertised for over $100.
I began printing out the buildings from Hawks site and making my own and now the local shop has it for like $45.
I do believe once I find someone to play w/ the game may take off in my area, until then I'm still searching for an opponent.

I know that hawk are going to gencon they said so on the hawkforum. Automatically Appended Next Post: Have you tried looking on hawks forum for players local to you.
And i dont think its expensive personally i dont like spartans model the detail on dropzone minis is far supperior and the price reflects that. the city scape pack makes the game cheaper than any others that i can think of in terms of terrain.

Since I live near Indy Ill be heading to Gencon this year. I agree that the models are that expensive and now that the cityscape is out I can stop making my own buildings from the printable ones on the Hawk website, which I might add is a great freebie from them for the game, well its costing you ink and paper.
I did hit their forum and found 1 person local to me but we have yet to meet up. I think once we do and start playing at local stores we may get more interest in the area. Also I do have a friend I game w/ but he isn't looking at getting into a new game, but he did get me started in the world of minis and has given me a bunch of stuff when i first started, so I might pick up a second army and see if we can get into it.

Shame that the card terrain wasn't available from day 1, but now that it is I can really see this game start to pick up again.
It deserves to really, those really are beautiful little miniatures.

Yah, I think if they'd have had the card terrain out initially, it would have helped grow the player base. We never got games in because we didn't have any terrain.

They did put out the free DLs for making your own, which I think they thought would go over better, but coming from someone who was using it, it did become a pain in the ass to make them. When I thought of what it would have cost to buy the tiles tho, it was better alternative.

In my gaming group people are dismissing the game because of its cost. Models are nice but the price is too high. I can go for dystopian wars for a fraction of the price. This is what happens in my group.

I can't see the cost problem. Concernig single models it may be true, but if you look at the costs for a tournament army the game is rather cheap. Especially if you compare it to Warhammer 40k the game is more than reasonably priced.

Getting into this game as well as some guys in my unit im deployed with. The ease of the smaller minatures is awesome and the cardstock terrain is great as well. Way cheaper in the long run then Money Hammer and once the specialist games stock dies out you will see a lot of people branching into the smaller scale war games like this who still want that sci-fi feel.

The vehicles are about the same size as 28mm infantry, and cost as much as finecast rank-and-file units. I only bought two packs of two vehicles, but half of them have bubbles in them.

I didn't had this Problem. My miniatures where perfectly fine. I grabbed the large army deal. You get an almost perfect army in tournament size for 140£. I think compared to GW that is more than cheap.

I do not think that Hawk is in direct competition with Spartan, as the Spartan rules are known to be badly broken.
I have heard good things about the play and balance of the Dropzone rules. I may pick up a copy so I can give a first hand account.

drop zone commander is cheap to play it you need £83 and an opponent to pay the same or £15 less if you are willing to lend/share rule book. What you get with £83 is a rule book and enough units to be able to try the core mechanics. You get a ready to play legal army. the miniatures are high quality resin and they will get you new parts to damaged parts all you need is to take a picture of the broken part. lets see another game system, 40k, to get started (not including starter set as it limits you options) £180ish £45 for the rule book and £30 for codex which with DZC its £15 for the lot, yes you can get a codex for £20 but that codex might be the next in line for update, another sneaky thing games workshop is doing is making a less legal army once you buy a HQ and a battle force but they are changing to only 1 troops choice in the battle force and they always put one unit in a battle force that sells the least of that particular army it may be the scouts which for people who buy scouts you normally (not always) prefer the one's with snipers or some times its ripper swarms or in the dark angels battle force it is 1 choice that is not always troops choice, as Ive been to many store events that unique characters are not allowed, games workshop is a big company but they take you for a joke because they have not got a competitor
same happened with the birth of war-hammer (40k) (except it was rubbed in your face with rich greedy investors), YOU as a player need to advertise it to your friends about the game. YOU need to ask your local stores to do events for this game or a build up campaign where everyone in the store willing gets a few models each week/month and you build up to a game. YOU need to dominate the tables with this game show it off otherwise it will not go anywhere
