Testor's Dullcote is generally the standby here. I've heard Army Painter's Anti-Shine Spray is good too (and cheaper than Testor's), but I haven't used it myself.

I've used Army Painter's Matte Spray and it worked as expected. No issues with it for me.

Get your models on the table and looking good!

Purity seal is technically satin but pretty good.
I had a problem with Army Painters anti-shine with terrible frosting, they put this down to a bad batch.

The best I have tried is Vallejo acrylic matte varnish, it's great.

Testor's Dull Cote has been my standby for 30+ years. Every can I've ever bought has been perfect. That's why I use it. Purity seal, OTOH, has been different with all three cans I've bought over the last eight years or so. That's why I don't use it anymore.

Add another vote for Testors Dullcote. I won't use anything else anymore.

Then try Testors Model Master Flat
Even better than Testors Dullcote.

Dullcote, +1. If I want a more of a satin finish, I use Rustoleum Painters-Touch Ultra Coverage Matte Clear from Wal-Mart.

I've totally given up on spray matte varnishes. I live in NW Indiana and we have humidity above 70% about 90% of the time, and I have had far to many models frost after spending hours painting them.

Vallejo brush on matte varnish mixed with a little water is the only thing I use now.

My can of purity seal frosted my chaos army pretty badly. I use Vallejo matte varnish in an airbrush.

This happened because the humidity was too high. Anything above 40 % humdity will frost. I've sprayed my models on one side, then gone to the other only to have one side frost and the other was fine. Varnish is very sensitive. You can generally fix it using a gloss vanish spray as it's stronger chemical solvents will eat away at the matt. several long sprays will often restore 95% of the model.

Best way to get a good matt finish and have good protection is to varnish using a gloss and then use testors dullcote which is also very tough.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

One more vote for Dullcote. The look is well worth the added stink and dry time, if you even consider those issues. Using a final coat over layers of cheaper gloss cuts down on the consumption and, thereby, cost. I've tried a few others, but none came close to the quality of the finish. I won't use any other matte spray on my miniatures.

Any recommendations for dealing with areas with high humidity most of the year?

Use brush on varnish .. or spray in a humidity controlled environment. That's about all you can do.

+1. I use Vallejo polyurethane matte varnish as brush on. Never bothered with spray varnishes as I live in Florida where humidity is pretty much 100% all year round lol.
