Maybe you play on heavely terrained boareds, but i play with about 3 LOS blocking pieces of terrain. Meaning i can't hide my entire army. Nightshields wont help vs any anti tank, it only works well vs melta and rapid fire stuff. 6 inches of a Las cannon or scatter lazer wont save you from it.

Quad gun is easy kill. A venom does 4 wounds to it, if that doesnt kill it, shoot other splinter cannons. Dead quad gun. Nightspinner is only str 6 and will only get a single raider, and maybe kill it. As you said your warwalkers are outflanking, so can't help out.

Harlequins are fast enough, they dont need a transport. And if they're transport DOES explode you are losing at least 4 Harlequins. Thats about 100pts not including raider. Then your stuck in the open for a turn where they will die, but if they run, they can stick in cover with a 2+ save, much safer.

wow...3 LOS? The people at my LGS say if there is still space on the board then you don't have enough cover . Its a great way to practice other ways to kill things without relying on the quad. As for destroying it...the only person that has every destroyed it was a necron guy and that was my first time playing against necrons....that will never happen agin!

How are harlies fast compared to a regular foot slogging army?

Hope the IC wont be too expensive 120 points or less, fingers crossed!

You seem to be quoting rumors of an unreleased Codex.

Deldar JB are fast so I wouldn't be surprised if all the JB's of Eldar were moved under fast and add points as "upgrades" to vypers and spears since they all have the same body as a JB. it's also a great way to screw over Eldar so its a huge possibility now that I think about it. One of the most advanced and longest lived races is vastly inferior to most races...GW really needs to stick to the gd story line and not "balancing" the codex.

First of all, the Vyper is a completely different kit from the current GJB/SS models.

Using rationalization from a completely different army book that was released for a previous edition is a weak way to reason something. The Eldar already have a very crowded Fast Attack section with Swooping Hawks, Warp Spiders, Shining Spears, and Vypers. Adding a 5th choice will also reduce the Troops sections to only 3 with 2 of them Dire Avengers and Guardians being very similar. You there are going to be flyers in the new book and adding it to a very crowded Heavy Support would make less sense than in Fast attack.

At the end of the day though, this is mostly moot. The book is not out yet so making decisions based on what could or could not be in the new Codex is pointless. Personally I am holding off on acquiring certain Eldar kits based on what I have read about and from what I can reason on my own.

Right, now I have had a chance to look at the codex...

HQ

Farseer: Runes of Witnessing - 115

Spiritseer: Mantle of the Laughing God - 110

Archon*: Shadow Field, Djin Blade - 110

TROOP

Jetbikes (3) - 51

Jetbikes (3) - 51

Wraithguard (10) - 320

Kalabite Warriors* (10): Splintercannon - 170
Raider: Splinter Racks

ELITE

Harlequin Troupe: 9x Harlequin Kiss - 266
Shadowseer: Harlequin Kiss
Troupe Master: Harlequin Kiss

Kalabite Trueborn (3): 2 x Dark Lances - 156
Raider: Flickerfield

HEAVY

Wraithlord: Wraithsword, Scatter Laser, 2 x Flamers - 145

TOTAL 1494

I was thinking of dropping 4 Wraithguard in exchange for a Wave Serpent......Thoughts?

The Waveserpent is an interesting choice. Not as a transport but as a shooty option. 60" will be in range of most units. Ignore cover is just dead 'ard and D6+1 shots at STR 7 aint too shabby! I gives me a chance to break open some light armour on turn 1 or take pesky dreadnought out of he equation from the off. Holofield gives +1 to cover save as i mentioned so I should be reasonable well protected.

The only question is whether or not it's worth it for 125 points?

What I would be loosing is 4 Wraithguard, which in itself is probably not such a bad trade off but these are super pimped Wraithguard (thanks to the Spiritseer) with Stealth/Shrouding, Hit&Run plus they get to re-roll all failed cover saves. That's pretty tasty Wraithguard! Plus the psychic buffing they could receive: 2 x rolls on the Runes of Batle table!

It's a tough one. on one hand I make a awesome unit stronger and able to withstand more losses while still being effective. On the other, I get a additional unit who has a lot to offer.

I could loose the Spiritseer instead. It makes the Wraith guard susceptible to being tar-pitted which is their worst nightmare for the cost of the unit. The Spiritseer giving them 'Hit&Run' makes them a horrid, HORRID unit to assault.

Hmmmmn

Mantle of the laughing god is a bad idea on a Spiritseer, he loses IC status and his psychic buffs are lost on himself that way.
