I had an x-acto #1 handle and pointy blade roll off my desk and I wasn't quick enough to move my feet out of the way.

Thunk! Into the top of my foot, to the depth of the ferrule - about an inch deep, 1/2" wide cut.
Fresh blade, clean cut. Missed everything vital. Bones, ligaments, tendons, etc.

Slapped some betadine and a sticky plaster dressing on it and it was good. Don't even have the scar anymore (it happened over 25 years ago now).

I don't count the thumb pads covered in criss-crossy shallow cuts and slices. Those are just par for the course and I don't generally cut through the epidermis (no blood. Just skin damage).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I was trimming flash off some resin bits for my GK conversion one night after the wife went to bed (I worked nights @ the time). It was rather late & I was getting sleepy. I was in my boxers & things were.. how should I put it.. 'hanging loose'. I use a Testors X-acto knife, the handle is all metal & it has a bit of weight to it. Brand new blade too.

I finished the last piece & the blade was angled down & the knife slipped out of my hand - again, point down, sharp side away from me - and buried itself into my scrotum between the boys.. I screamed & jerked causing the handle to fall forward, creating an incision about a 1/2" deep & 1" long as it fell forward.

Worst part was the local anesthetic they had to administer to the area for the 4 stitches. Dr. said I was lucky I didn't sever any of the working parts & give myself a home vasectomy.

I don't model w/o pants anymore.

I work nights too, maybe that's a factor?

Yeah, it really sucked. I was on medical leave for three weeks & I had to wear a medical version of an athletic supporter & had to change the gauze every 4-5 hrs for several days - if you think changing bandages over stitches is bad on more conventional areas, try it there. I couldn't wear anything but the baggiest of shorts (I opted for none, I sure as feth wasn't going anywhere!) & had a waterproof version I had to wear in the shower.

On a side note to that my Cat ate a CSM and got herself rather sick =( Had to get her to the vet ASAP as she quite literally turned the poor model into a Chaos Spawn after gnawing on him... Wasn't much left...

For small wounds, I absolutely agree with the super glue doctoring. It works incredibly well. But there comes a point where the wound is too large, flaps around too much and bleeds from too large an area.

I find it funny how many people in this hobby have had major accidents while working the tools of the trade... some worse than others! (YOUR BALLSACK!?)

Just to add it to the thread, my wound has healed up a bit, and looks much better.
It's still a wound though and I know some people have a hard time with those, so viewer discretion:

I've slashed myself plenty of times but my most impressive wound was the result of a freakish accident. I tend to use my lap as an additional work area, and I didn't notice a certain needle file there as I tried to get up from my desk. I turned and started walking when the file bounced on the floor. My bare foot happened to catch the file point just right, driving the point deep into the ball of my foot. I tripped in pain, and noticed the now broken file missing 1/2 inch of length. I couldn't believe the file tip was actually still lodged in my foot, so I went to work.

Needless to say, the pain continued, so when I got home I tested my foot...yup, a magnet stuck right to my foot! The doctor in the emergency room worked up quite a sweat extracting that sucker, and my foot has numbness to this day.

Sorry, but this is one of those things that has to be said.

Why didn't you go to the emergency room straight away? It's not like 1/2 inch of metal rod is just going to naturally fall out of a gaping hole in your foot.

As I said, I didn't realize the file tip was in my foot. The hole was tiny and there was virtually no blood.

I have to say, I would not have imagined some of the things I'm reading here. Definitely the most scarring thread I've ever read lol.

I have all the usual cuts and gluing accidents, but I think my worst situation was at a games day a while back.
I was cutting bits of sprue into tiny chunks to make rubble using a pair of small wire cutters that they provided. I was working fast and not really paying attention. Somehow, I managed to put the fleshy part on the end of my thumb in the wire cutters and squeezed it with all my strength. It took a moment before I had realized what I had done, but I wasn't injured. I had a layer of superglue dried on so thick that the cutters barely left a mark.
I could not believe my luck, and I was a lot more careful the rest of the day.

Luckily I am a medic because I have had to save myself from myself a few times. Let's just say I magically obtained some scalpels and about a week later a suture kit.

Health tips for the day:
1. Fingers tent to bleed a lot so don't freak out too much
2. Sugar is great for packing a slice to control bleeding along with elevation
3. All bleeding eventually stops

Kind of like a guy I know, except he says he doesn't fry bacon without a shirt anymore. Came home late at night from some concert and decided to have a manly meal before going to bed, stripped off his sweaty shirt and started frying...

As for modeling I mostly have the standard small scars and lines on my thumbs, luckily. The scar in the palm of my left hand is pretty impressive though. I was using a very sharp switchblade for some heavy cutting and neglected to watch it when I was about to close it. For some reason I had it turned the wrong way and pressed the blade into my palm, creating a nice inch-long and pretty deep wound in an instant. It healed very well as it was a perfectly smooth cut, and now I have a self-made life line in the palm of my left hand.

Lost (and possibly Damned)

i personally have had nothing worse than grazing a stanley knife down the side of my thumb, and the seemingly accepted certainty of supergluing my fingers to everything, but my friend has had a significantly worse injury:

He was hacking away at the csm torso sticking out of the top of a rhino ( he wanted to make it berzerker dedicated ) when his knife suddenly slid through the plastic, straight into his finger, almost severing it at the knuckle. At first he panicked, and wrenched the knife out, and for some reason, he wasn't in intense pain, so the idiot decided to carry on. After about a minute, he decided that the steady stream of blood pouring from his finger was getting annoying, so went to get a plaster: after five steps he fainted from blood loss. He was then taken to A&E and had the wound stitched up. He was left with a scar and bulge twice the width of his finger. And half a fingerprint.

I swear I did not make this up.
