Does anyone have any insights, etc... on the game? I do know it is Alessio Cavatore, who I tend to appreciate very much as a designer, but i've heard little else about this one (other than it being 15mm).

I've been looking forward to this game for quite a while now. It will also be my first foray into 15mm gaming since DBA, and that's makes me doubly happy.

KS'er is live.

Edit: Its weird that the Early-Bird specials seems so faction specific. The wife and I were hoping there would be an obvious "sweet-spot" tier for two players to get started, somewhere between $150 and $250. I guess, All-Out-Assault is as close as that gets?

So correct me if I'm wrong, but to actually play the game with 2 factions it looks like you need to commit to the $260 level or higher? Am I reading that right?

Seems like. Very bizarre. A new game, out of the gates should ideally have some mid-tier way for two players to try the system out. Here it feels like you need to go all in, right out of the gates.

I like Alessio's games, which is why i'm here, and threw a quick $225 at this, but it is going to need to do a fair bit more to keep the wife and I from just throwing an extra $200 into Deadzone instead.

...Meh, count me out. tripod kits look ok though nowhere near as great as I thought and even at KS prices it's not all that cheap for a 15mm game. add to that figures will hardly see use outside of this specific game (Weird War One does that...) and the extremely high buy-in to even get any stretch goals and I'm out.

I'm tentatively in at Martian Pod Leader Full Assault Early Bird. The feel of this game is almost exactly right for me -- I love "retro" alien invasion scenarios but prefer the '50s. I've been watching the Martian tripods for a while now and they've been growing on me. I'm also getting into 15mm gaming and this seems like a good intro.

LOL, I just bumped up to Full Assault Early bird, too. I'm going to stick there and see how things unfold.

Price is a bit high, but as an HG Wells fan, there was no way I could pass this up. I'm also banking on the expansions to increase the amount of likely players, so I'll be able to find someone to actually play a game with.

I'm gonna need to buy some appropriate Army themed paints now...

Interested in this since I first saw it but the decent looking pledge levels are a bit steep for me, I do hope it does well and I'll probably look to get involved later.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

They added a few "Early Bird" tiers, and the $245 one "Full Assault" is about as close as it seems I am going to get for a moderately sized two-player starter set. I've pledged, and still retain a whole lot of enthusiasm, but I will say that I feel like my pledge feels precarious, versus secure. It is going to take a lot of stretch-goal generosity, as $250 doesn't seems to stage a very impressively sized two player game right now. Considering the scale, and the price of some of the WWII 15mm proxies i've purchased over the years, i'm looking for 50% more models by Kickstarter end, before I feel really good about this one.

Edit: 70k stretch-goal. WOW... That is a pricey add-on. I would have thought they'd do a little more Kickstarter community building before they threw the expensive add-ons out there.

I've grabbed an early bird, but it's one that I'm going to be watching very closely as its bit highly priced straight off.

Neat,

but definitely expensive for a 15mm game

Wow... Someone on the Kickstarter just tried to convince me of the value of a sole $35 tank add-on.... by comparing it to a Dust Tactics/Warfare Heavy Walker...

.... which is probably 400% larger in size, and can be found for $24 anywhere on the internet.... and comes with two different options/profiles for the game.

Good to see the cult of early adoption is in full effect.

Sorry you aren't happy with the second stretch goal (the first was more freebies). We will be adding lots of great things as we go both paid and free.

As for the Tank for $35, it is a very large tank. I will have to find the exact dimensions, but it is easily the size of a Dust Medium Walker if not bigger.

Thanks to the people who helped fund this in less than 2 hours! We appreciate it greatly.

Also, here are the dimensions for the Flamethrower Tank add on:

Length (with trailer) is 8"
Width is 3"
Height is 4"

So you can see it is a very large tank in 15mm!

It's worth the cost for me, considering the other free stuff i get for joining pre-kickstarter... I'm quite happy to give you my wallet.

Just get the rules out and put the game out there, if that's what it takes... lets be honest, in 15mm scale, and with a theme as generic as WW1, there will be plenty of cheaper options to supplement my force if they turn out to really be that overpriced. Not to mention for people who already have 15mm ww2 terrain, you don't have to shell out for terrain and you can get model railroad scenery. It is far more attractive to me than lets say, dropzone commander.

I'm in it for the mini's anyway

Well, first off -- cheers for the $50k goal. Anything that sweetens the deal helps to also seal the deal. Because this really is shaping up to be an expensive game.

I'm hoping some of the Locked Items on my Full Assault pledge turn out to be Martian units. Without knowing their relative capabilities, even Full Assault seems to favor the US forces.

Here's the Add-On Menu thus far (with MSRP in parentheses):

Hardcover Rulebook (w/Digital Copy) ... $40 ($45)

+ US Forces +

Mark IV Monitor ... $28 ($35)
3x Mark III Tanks ... $27 ($33)

@$70k: Flame Thrower Tank ... $35

+ Martian +

3x Assault Tripods ... $31 ($39)
3x Scout Tripods ... $48 ($60)

@70k: Martian Cylinder ... $35

If all that is accurate, it looks like the main savings is with the Martian Scout Tripods.

Dang, the kickstarter went live in the dead of night here. I'm in for Full Assault, which is expensive, but I suspect the value will go up as add-ons and bonuses appear.

Full Assault has already benefited from four extra models, which leaves two more to go.

watching the gaming video, i was surprised at how big those plastic tripods will be. and the mark IV tanks are a great model.

Although, now I have to say that seeing the 15mm sherman tank next to the troops, which are actually 18mm, I'd like to see how they compare with normal 15mm troops...

Good lord those are huge! They need to post some tripod scale pics.
Man, this will be impressive to game with.

Holy crap, they're massive. I don't feel so bad now that I see the Tripods tower over 40k Dreadnoughts

Yeah, didn't expect them to be so large since, you know, 15mm.

Pretty cool though. Still not a great 2P entry point, but cool.
