Cannon spam is one of those things that make Fantasy not fun to play.

Funny, only 4 factions actually have cannons. And only 2 can run more than 2 at a time.

I'd hardly call 2-3 cannons "spammy"

Maybe i'm still recovering from post-traumatic stress from the doubles tournament I was at a couple weekends ago where every table had Ogres with 1-3 Ironblasters.

Ironblasters are rare. If they had 3 it would be illegal.

Where are you getting that from? The armies that can have cannons are: Empire, Skaven, Dwarves, Ogres and Daemons. And technically, any army with access to Shadow Magic can cannon snipe thanks to the Pendulum (and trust me, from experience, I know that once you've tried Pendulum Sniping, Cannon sniping becomes so bland ). I'm not exactly knowledgeable about these armies, but I know you can take up to 3 of everything in an army and, in a standard 2400 points game, unless the cannons are both rare and over 200 points in cost (which, apart from some, I doubt), then you can fit 3 in. I think Empire can take numerous cannons on various stuff too.

It was a Doubles Tournament. Two teamed up Ogre armies can field up to 4.

Forgot Skaven, although their cannon isn't really a real cannon. It acts very differently(namely it can't be stopped by big things)


And yes, Ironblasters and Skullcannons are Rare choices. And as such you can only have 2 in lists under 3000 points.
