So last weekend i put together this very make shift list to take on a deamon player that runs like 5 greater deamons at 1950points.
and well considering i knew he was going to assault me i actually gave up mephistons powers for ones from the rule book.
now what i rolled on was Biomancy for all 3 and i got:
-Warp Speed
-Endurance
-Hemorage
i also had another lib which took the Primaris power to cast on mephiston. what ended up happening was he flew 4 of 5 over to me 1st turn i grounded 2 i sent meph into the warlord one which was boosted insanely with physic powers such as invun of 5 with rerolls and feel no pain of 4+
though mephiston managed to roll a 3 on warp speed and get his other power off too for FnP and it will not die!. so Mephiston charging in ended up pumping out 10 Str 7 hits with rerolls to hit and wound thanks to transfixing and furious charge! which allowed me to slay this beast with a force weapon like it was a standard marine.
anyone else think when using mephiston and you know that your enemy has to come to you that it is worth while to give up his powers for bio ones or div even for chance at invun save
|
When in doubt get Mephiston out!

You can only use transfixing gaze on ICs, not Monstrous Creatures. But yes, rolling Bio does wonders against MCs... although he strikes second against BTs and DPs, and only gets FNP against them... you're looking at taking down one if you're lucky, maybe two at most without an Invuln save... hope you get lucky on the Warp Speed roll!
How are you attacking at Str 10? Without Iron Arm, he's base str 6.

I wish Mephiston's force sword had gotten FAQd to AP2. He is a ton of points.

BTW, if Mephiston is taking book powers over his codex powers, he can only generate 2 powers. It's in the BA FAQ's.

Same with Draigo.....they both need AP2 power weapons.

For their points I think it would be justified. I take a lot of daemonhammers now so it's still working okay for my GK in melee.

So it does say only 2 powers i made a mistake then! though all it would have changed would be me not using Hemo which failed anyway.
mephiston wasn't striking at Str 10 he was only at Str 7 on the charge due to being near a priest for furious charge. i got lucky on boths my turns rolling a 5/6 on the warp speed roll giving him Initiative 10 and 10 attacks on the charge which is why i was able to kill both so easily without taking damage as they never got to strike back!

Yes the same for Sanguinor as well. I guess we BA players will just have to wait for the next codex. : (

Since you only get 2 rolls on the rulebook tables I think it is better to keep him with his own powers, as these are better in most cases even when you know your opponent is coming at you.

He needs warp speed to take on BTs and DPs though. It's a toss up.
Arguably you shouldn't be running Mephiston against the DPs, I use him to hunt and slaughter the rest of the squishy Daemon army and force them to take -5 DI tests.
