I'll apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum section as I'm new to Dakka, but since it was fantasy related it seemed right.

As !of recent I've wanted to create Sigvalds armour in real life, as seen in this picture...

However, I have no idea how I would even begin to go about doing such a task, so does anyone have some suggestions? I appreciate any help!

Start with some stylized greek armor and modify it from there.

To look dramatic for his cover art on his new metal album.

Thanks for the suggestion Grey Templar.

The Greek armor seems like it would be a great start.
However, the only problem I'm seeing would be the fit of it. Sigvald appears to have it pretty much fit his figure, and while that has potential with the Greek armor, most of it is fairly big as to fit all comers. I'm actually quite small in comparison to such armor (or so I imagine), so I wonder if there's anyway to get it in a more "fit" style?

Thanks again, and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a linky to a muscled leather breast/torso piece

I suggest you search some other places though that have users specifically into Costume Play, COS Play. There are many small companies that make fantasy arms and armour for renassance festivals, LARPERS, Society for Creative Anachronism, etc. Search out those forums and I bet you will find a lot of people that have made this kind of armour or had it custom made for them.

Check out "Plastic Dip Artists" on facebook. They all specialise in creating cosplay stuff. You'll learn some good tips like making LotR Elf armour out of paper and ranged weapons out of pvc and elastic.

Well, the obvious solution is to get said armor custom fitted, but I imagine that could be expensive. But there are places out there that make custom suits of armor.

That is false. Greek armour was bought specifically for the wearer and would cater specifically to his figure.

Hoplites bought their own armour.

As long as I can get something that's like Sigvald's armour, I'm happy.

Any links I could get for those LARP/Cosplay forums, or even for that "Plastic Dip Artists" facebook? I'm not too savvy with this stuff apparently.

I'm sure he was referring to replica armor purchasable today and not what happened historically.

A good replica should be authentic.

Go to google and search for:

Then just follow links that look promising

Well since I don't think I have the skill to make the desired armor, or the money to buy it, I've decided to switch it up and try to make some armor akin to that of the Wood Elf Highborn with Great Weapon, seen here...

I think I can possibly make something similar using the heated foam technique I've seen in quite a few places. Does anyone know how durable such armor is?
I'm planning to use this in an air guitar competition, so there will potentially be a lot of flailing about, and I don't think I would want anything to come a part on me during the performance.

I'm definitely going for that arrogant, lordly look with this armor, since I've got the hair to do it, and it goes with the persona I seemed to develop.
