Subject: VERY exciting ORK list!!!

Hey guys!
I have finally gotten myself a Battlewagon and I cannt wait to use it with my Boyz.
I have made up a 1500 point list that centres around overwhelming my enemy with numbers.
HQ
Warboss ('Eavy Aarmour, Cybork Body, TL Shoota, Big Choppa)
Big Mek ('Eavy Armour, Cybork Body, Choppa, KFF)
TROOPS
18 'Ard Boyz + 'Ard Nob ('Eavy Armour, BP, PK)
29 Slugga Boyz + Nob ('Eavy Armour, BP, PK)
29 Slugga Boyz + Nob ('Eavy Armour, BP, PK)
29 Shoota Boyz (3 Big Shootas) + Nob ('Eavy Armour, BP, PK)
FAST ATTACK
3 Deffkoptas (TL Rokkits) - taken as 3 seperate units
HEAVY SUPPORT
Battlewagon (Deffrolla, 3x Big Shootas)
Looted Wagon (Boomgun, Reinforced Ram, Big Shoota)
TOTAL = 1490 points.
I was thinking of dropping 1 of the 'Ard Boyz to upgrade the Warboss to a PK and add him to the Battlewagon.
Upgraded Warboss = 1500 points
I guess one issue would be the number of KP I have due to the Deffkopta's, but I would rather have them as individual units rather than a squad.
Any and all comments welcome!

Great place for you to drop points would be the 'eavy armor on everyone who has it (except warboss) that's 20 pts for yer klaw right there. Heavy armor does not help in a challenge, as usually the challenger is a) weak, pasty discount sarge just trying to take a hit for the team, or b) has a power weapon and is going before you, thus murdering you anyway. Would also recommend maybe dropping a couple boys to give your boss an attack squig. Always a nice thing to have. Lastly, where is your kff mek going? in the wagon? Cause if I read this right, you got that kff which will help your horde approach, but then do nothing once it gets stuck in melee. I'd suggest adding him to one of the foot-boy mobs. LOS is a 2+ anyway for him, so it's not like character sniping is a big thing to worry about. For your characters, you give them the gear of the nob in his squad (bp/pk that is) you can use the naked nob to eat challenges while your IC bring the smackdown with that klaw unopposed. Last but not least, if you want your boss in the wagon, go for broke and just give him mega-armor. you get the tl shoota and power klaw for free in the bargain, plus you just made your boss a whole lot tougher. Slow and Purposeful does not stop a wagon, so why not?

Its cool getting a battlewagon, but you have to remember there will be a whole armies worth of anti tank coming its way. So it may not survive that long.
I wouldn't bother with heavy armour, and would take a klaw on the warboss or just chuck him in mega armour. With the spare poinrs left over you could grab some kannnons or a grot screen.

Thanks guys, the Mega Armour is a great idea. I guess with that tactic, you could stick him out front once they've disembarked to absorb any wounds on a 2+ and then LOS any that get through?
I originally intended for the Mek to travel in the wagon giving it a save but think he would be better off, as you said, in one of the squads.
Thanks for the feedback!
EDIT: I've never used Deffkopta's before.. Any tips??

Everyone is going to say "run them in solo units because of terrible leadership, use them to snipe rear armour with TL rokkits" or something like that. But nuts to that, thats a terrible way to do it
Run them five strong with a Bikerboss. They are an amazing unit except for their terrible leadership, and a Biker Warboss with a bosspole puts them up to re-rollable 9s
Big Shootas and *maybe* a klaw (if you run them in dread mob where the klaw is cheaper) or a big bomm (gonna need to experiment with that though). Personally I reckon have them outflank late in the game. TL Big Shootas have great range and damage ~ they can wreck objective camping sissy units as well as rear armour 10. Some might say TL Rokkits instead for busting tanks, and they'd be right if you were hitting from the front, but I reckon, against armour 10, you want a bucket of glances over a couple of AP3 penetrations.
You can't assault when you come in, but you can still drop a Big Bomm, and then go and dakka something else as needed!
However, I'm not certain as to if they can have a biker IC if they outflank. I'm still looking into it ~ but if Snikrot can, no reason why they can't as well.

Yeah a biker boss, or an IC in general can go with the deffkoptas and outflank or can scout as well. But an IC couldn't outflank with a unit of infiltrators unless he had infiltrate. Its just that phrase on pg 38 "an Independent Character without the infiltrate special rule cannot join a unit of infiltrators during deployment." And since outflanking units are determined in deployment a bikerboss couldn't go with kommandos for example. But the Scouts rule has no such exception so a bikerboss could go with deffkoptas, and then outflank.

Battlewagons are nice, but you only have two armoured units in your army and that means those units will be attracting loads of anti tank and that Battlewagon won't last long at all.

I'd suggest adding some killa kans and a deff dread to provide some extra armored targets and support the footslogging boys. They're both cheap units and with a little luck they can do some good damage unless they get wiped out straight away from shooting but even then at least they directed some heavy fire away from your battlewagon.

I'm going to step in for heavy armour.
If the orks are in a battle waggon and it hits home then they will find themselves in combat. If you are up against standard troops, say marines then heavy armour means loads more boyz will survive, particularly with the move away from power weapons to more shooty weapons on sargs (not eveyone I know but it appears to be a trend).
If they get shot out of the battle waggon any bolter line will only be half as effective and its only when you get to heavy bolters and autocannons which will start to negate the armour.
The only MEQ happy to see heavy armour in a battle waggon are Khorne beserkers with chain axes.
I sort of see where people are coming from for the biker boss with the deff coptas but it does stop them acting like jetbikes and getting the huge turbo-boost, straight over anything. If you do put a biker boss in there then you possibly lose the option to easily get to rear armour; and your scout move (have they still got it in the 6th?). They always have the option of Buzz saws to help after shooting; wade into key combats to help swing them sort of thing.

Maybe run all the Slugga boyz as Shoota Boyz too? They seem to be the better option in 6th.

Im pretty sure you can scout with an IC attached to the unit. It just says as long as one model in a unit has scout... it can do its scout move thing.

I might be wrong about this, but i think you have to do LOS! before rolling for saves. There was a change to that rule that removed the words "unsaved wounds" from that rule.

You are correct. it is to avoid the cheese tactic similar to what I was doing with necrons, where I have a 2+ 3++ overlord at the front of a unit, and if any shot gets through his defense, I would just pawn it off on a random shmuck on a 2+
