You need to wrap something in an image tag. Which would look like the following below:

Awesomely enough the Dakka Logo is a .gif file, just not an animated one.

Please also note that while you can include gifs as part of a larger post (I love to do that), a post that consists of solely a gif or other image macro is considered spam and will be deleted by a moderator. You probably knew that but this seems like a good place to point it out if you perhaps did not.
