Seems a bit OP that does...
I like the fluff of it having Rampage, but in game terms it can be a LITTLE bit broken :/
With Crushing Claws they already have the potential to put out a maximum of 9 attacks each on the charge (4 base +2 for Feed + 3 for a really good D3 roll), so...
In which case, giving them rampage for a potential 12 is even sillier !
Perhaps then we could lower the base attacks to 2?

I think base 2 would be a bit too extreme as well...
And thinking about it, I like your idea... It shows how fething mental he is on the charge!
Maybe limit it to, on the turn he charges, he gets Rage and Rampage. Afterwards, just Crushing Claws and base 3.

Well, if he keeps rampage, rage doesn't affect him after the charge, so that's two attacks less every turn after the charge. That'd be 4-8 attacks with Crushing Claws and rampage. Do't forget the Hammer of Wrath attacks a well, though.

I think something needs to be done to help out the fex.
It is the most iconic tyranid MC along with the hive tyrant and he rarely gets seen because of Tfexes and Trygons.
A points cost drop should be inevitable but also rage and/or rampage when charging plus ap 2 HOW attacks would work.
Also the option for a 2+ save and T7, but at a hefty points cost.
As a non Tyranid player I have to ask, what is a stonecrusher carnifex?

Forgeworld variant with Armored Shell (2+ armor), Regeneration, and Crushing Claws. I think the models were originally intended for use in Cities of Death, since the conversion parts are called "Wrecker Claws" (also can be built with a biological wrecking ball and a ram carapace, though those don't do anything in terms of rules as far as I am aware).
Also, anyone read my suggestion?
Strat_N8 wrote:Just as a thought, but what about just moving it to the troop slot? That would provide an innate troop MC without having to bring potentially unwanted Termagants, remove the competition with Trygons, and better reflect how they are the most common MC in the swarm. The precedent for a swap to troops is already present with Warriors having been downgraded from HQ/Elite to Troops and it would certainly be unique.

And not just any regeneration, but regeneration that rerolls ones. With the SC carni, there's really no reason for the vanilla meleefex to exist.

What about allowing one Carnifex brood to be taken as a troops choice? You could have up to three in a Brood, so that's a hefty troop choice right there. Maybe drop it to S8 and make it 120 points per 'fex, keeping it as it is in the codex.

Okay so the general consensus seems to be that the Carnifex needs to be tougher in order to better fit with the iconic "unstoppable charging line-breaker" image.
Some combination of T7, 5W, 2+ Sv and FNP seems to be the way to go, but giving it all of the above is overkill (and to balance it would be very expensive).
I would be more tempted by T7 and FNP, but keeping it at 4W and 3+ Sv, if only to make the Carnifex platform suitably different from the Hive Tyrant and T6/6W creatures.
