I didn't see this posted (at least not on the first page), but for those who have missed it, Australian wargaming store The Combat Company is looking to take legal action against Games Workshop for "uncompetitive business practices.

GW is once again doing what they did with the Tau release by severly limiting the amount of product they sell wholesale to distributers (IE: Your FLGS) in order to reserve stock for their brick and mortar and online sales. According to the post of The Combat Company, GW is witholding 66% of all new product and only releasing 33% to wholesalers, to avoid selling at wholesale price so they gain the extra income from selling directly to the customer at MSRP.

The Combat Company put in an order in advance for $10,000 worth of product and GW wont guarantee any of it.

Well you have not summarized things accurately. They dont know for sure about the 66% figure, they said they heard this unofficially. The only thing known for sure is they made a big order and GW responded that they could not gaurantee fullfilling the order.

This does not sound like a strong basis for legal action to me.

Already a thread about this in N&R.

"Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! ... It’s become the promotions department of a toy company." -- Rick Priestly
