Lots of people seem very unhappy with how their vehicles can die now that Hull Points are a thing. I personally find that Vehicles blowing up so quickly and easily with a lucky roll can be dispiriting.

I wondered if they could be alleviated by shifting the damage chart up a notch or two, so there was a seven or even an eight option (requiring modifiers to get the full vehicle explodes result). Perhaps with an errata of some sort that increased all Vehicle Hull Points by 1?

I dunno. I just would like to see vehicles being considered relatively sturdy.

Vehicles were (apparently) too good in 5th edition, so they nerfed them into the ground this edition, to force everyone to buy new stuff. I personally never had any tank survive to turn 3 without being all but destroyed.
Anyway, I like the idea of +1 to all Hull Points. Make each Structure Point worth at least 4 HPs while we're at it. Let's face it, after 4 glancing hits, your rhino probably wasn't very useful in 5th edition either. I think that would solve a lot of problems, whilst avoiding the "Lolz vehicles are so OP!" arguments that arise from this topic.

Ironically for a "cinematic" game hull points ruin the immersion. Unlike real life and good fiction, vehicles don't take numerous shots and still remain in action...they are simply destroyed. Period.

GW should have just knocked the glancing penalty back down to a -1 instead of -2 as it was in 5th Edition.

Just thought of another twist on this:

Subtract the number of Hull Points remaining from your Rolls on the Penetration Table. Full 3 would mean only an AP1 or 2 stand a chance of doing serious damage, but wearing it down eventually drops it.

When I saw the thread title, I thought of the same thing... I was just gonna pop in and say "HP having an effect on the damage table so you can't get blown up with 75% of your HP* left with one unlucky die".

*Assuming you're using an HP4 vehicle.

then how would you be able to eventually "wear it down" if your opponent has destroyed all it's ap 1 & 2 models?

personally, I like how is is now

Just remember that you used to be able to blow a vehicle up with a glancing hit.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Well, rolling lower on the Penetration table wouldn't stop you losing a Hull Point, making subsequent shots more likely to roll it dead in one shot. If they had no low AP weapons left, they could still incapacitate it or wreck it through the normal Hull Point system.

I don't have a big problem with Hull Points now, but I see a lot of people complaining that Hull Points make vehicles too weak. I thought this might be a way to make them a little more resilient.

I don't understand why people think giving vehicles wounds was such a great idea. If it were necessary, I would rather expand the damage table to a greater range of results than simply treat vehicles like a monstrous creature's red-headed stepchild.
